When recruiting for roles within Software Engineering it can be hard to find the necessary skills due to their availability... however, there are a few programming languages that make that search even harder 👀 Go, C & R can be the bane of your life when they are a requirement 🥵 I'd always recommend to Go Engineers that they put "Golang" in their CV over Go as it's an easily searchable phrase via a boolean. When it comes to C & R - I don't have a clue how you can make yourself more visible on searches when it comes to recruiters finding your CV. So until I find that solution, the below will be my reaction to seeing a C & R requirement come through the inbox 🤣 Any tips? #recruitment #C #R #software #Go #Golang

Knowing people is more important than knowing how to code. And I don't just mean "It's who you know". More importantly it's how well you know people. Anyone and everyone applying for the job you're looking at is proficient in the languages required. How many know how to get someone interested in them in an interviewing room? This week's coffee I sat down with Dan Harper and he had some great insights for any Career Switchers/Juniors like me. 1/ Discuss what you're learning. Is it something you found exciting? Can you share that excitement in a conversation? 2/ Senior Engineers can be cynical. They've been doing this forever and there's nothing new under the sun. But Juniors can be electric. Convey this energy and get them excited to teach you. 3/ Stand out! Have you done something in life that gives you an edge? Makes you unique? I'm sure there's something. Communicating this can be a make or break. Make sure you highlight your difference. Having coffees with people like Dan is so invigorating. Go and message a CTO or Recruiter. An hour over coffee will teach you so much. (PS my coffee calendar is free next week. In Melbourne? Get in my DMs! I'd love to chat)

So the coin change problem was messing with me so I found another way to solve it. Hi everyone 🙋♂️ , it is Friiiiday! So the coin problem - I fumbled in an interview, and I promised myself a while ago that when facing interviews, tests, or challenges, I either win or learn! Sure rejections hurt, it always hurts unless you don't care, so I choose to use that hurt to ensure I would do anything to ensure it's not a fault on my end! So I keep learning! So with that said- here is another way to solve the coin change problem #go #golang #golangdevelopers #softwareengineer #learninggolang #senior #interview

Tip for Junior Software Engineers Avoid using "Junior" in your job title. It can give the impression that you lack confidence in your skills. The main thing hiring managers are looking for at your level is a positive, can-do attitude. Believe in yourself and your abilities!
