The Euros are over for another four years - are you sad or are you sighing with relief? For the winners Spain, not only is there the kudos of being crowned the best footballing country in Europe, but there’s the financial gain - a prize of EUR 10 million. Plus of course, all the bonuses and payments for each round of the competition. The winning players could earn around £200,000 each in fees and progression bonuses - not a bad pay day for playing 7 games. A big incentive to play well, right? When you have a big goal it can spur you on to find different ways to achieve your targets. But to do well, you need a coherent plan and execution strategy, just like Spain. Are you a winner? Have you defined your goals? Do you have a clear plan for your financial future?

In a ruling handed down on December 21, 2023, in the European Superleague Company case, the Court of Justice of the European Union ruled that FIFA and UEFA’s rules on the prior authorization of football competitions, such as the Super League, were contrary to European Union law. Portugal’s second string squad is strong enough to win. Absolutely frightening squad. Germany will be dangerous as it’s their home ground but they have very young and much older players who are their best players. That might mean they don’t have the edge. Spain are dangerous. Spain with Morata as captain is the kind of weird move that wins competitions. Austria as dark horses. Strong team with intense pressing style. Italy are a cup team. Not the 3–0 I predicted but are we being too harsh on England? Let’s look at the facts/positives: 1.      We have won the group 2.      Every other team in our group were happy to draw 3.      Slovenia and Denmark will go through without winning a game 4.      We are the only team to get a win in the group. 5.      The only group where there was just 1 game won 6.      We now get to play a 3rd place team in the last 16 7.      Followed by a 2nd place team in the quarters 8.      We won’t face a group winner until the semi-final 9.      We avoid Spain, Germany, Portugal and France until the final 10.   No one is singing “It’s coming home” 11.   I'm still backing England to win the Euros! 😮 Does anyone agree with this? Listen to this one sentence Gareth Southgate said before the Euro finals. It taught me 3 things. P.s despite what anyone thinks about him, his perspective about this is incredible. 1. Your achievements don’t define you - It would be so easy to let this one game define him. We all fall in this trap! - But he realises that would be unfair on himself. We are far more than our successes or failures. - Acknowledge your achievements, but don’t let them define you. 2. Others might count you out. But don’t count yourself out - we can’t control other peoples opinions or actions (whether they are right or wrong). - But you can control your opinion about yourself. If you don’t define yourself, someone else will. 3. Perspective is everything - Gareth was under insane amounts of pressure. Just imagine!! The whole of England is depending on you. - He mentally prepared himself with such a powerful perspective.
