Do you check the self-closing mechanism on your hotel room door? If you don’t, you should. A good self-closing mechanism will close the door, allowing it to lock, even when the door is released from a very short distance. On the other hand, some properties may have door closers that require a further door release distance to close the door and allow it to lock. This means you could leave your room unwittingly unlocked whether you’re inside or outside of it, which poses a whole host of potential problems. It’s best to perform a quick check on the strength of the door closer when you stay in a hotel, and also make sure that the door is indeed locked when you leave your room. #hotelsecurity #travelsecurity
