R.I.P 🪦 The story of Richard and Catherine Dotson's gravestones located on Runway 10 is a remarkable and unique piece of aviation history. This couple's final resting place is indeed embedded in the middle of an active runway, which is quite unusual and poignant. It's a testament to the way in which personal histories and aviation history can intersect in unexpected ways. This scenario arose from the land's previous ownership and usage before becoming part of the airport. When the area was acquired to build or extend the runway, the Dotsons' graves were already established there. As a result, agreements were made to allow the graves to remain undisturbed, honoring the couple's memory and the property's history, despite the land's transformation into a crucial part of an aviation facility. This unique situation presents a fascinating intersection of respect for individual legacies and the demands of modern aviation infrastructure. It’s a vivid illustration of how history is preserved and respected, even as the landscapes around these historical markers continue to evolve and serve new purposes. R.I.P 🪦 Wishing you blue skies, tailwinds, and safe flying! The Sky's The Limit @top fans #pilot #pilots #aviation #avgeek

Today we are looking at propellers. So, let's take a spin.... Did you know that propellers (which are used in Air and Sea activities): 1. Propellers are twisted so that the tip of the blade spins faster than the hub. 2. The first iterations of propellers were Archimedes' Screw, which was used around 200 BC to lift water from wells. 3. Today's propellers have an efficiency of around 90%, while the Wright Brothers' propellers operated at about 82% efficiency. This #throwbackthursday, we soar with the Wright Brothers! Their history-making flight in 1903 wouldn't have been possible without a key innovation: lightweight metal components. Strength without the weight! The brothers used steel for key structural elements but cleverly incorporated aluminum for parts that needed to be light and strong. This innovative combo allowed their Flyer to achieve liftoff. Did you know? Their success paved the way for using lightweight metals in future airplanes, making them faster, more efficient, and ultimately, accessible. What’s the real world impact ? From sleek jets to massive cargo planes, the Wright Brothers' lightweight metal strategy is a cornerstone of modern aviation. #wrightbrothers #firstflight #metalinnovation #aviationhistory #anythinginmetal

The SR-71 Blackbird holds a special place in my heart as my favorite aircraft of all time. Its unmatched capabilities are simply extraordinary, even by today’s standards. Did you know the SR-71 could fly at Mach 3+, cruising at over 85,000 feet, where the sky turns dark, and pilots could see the curvature of the Earth? Even more astonishing, its engineering allowed it to outrun missiles simply by accelerating! This marvel of innovation first took flight 60 years ago, in 1964—a time when rotary phones were still the norm, and color TV was just becoming widespread. Yet, engineers at Skunk Works® developed an aircraft so advanced that it remains the fastest piloted aircraft ever built, with records that still stand to this day. What inspires me most about the SR-71 is what it teaches us about human potential. The team behind it dared to be bold, pushing the boundaries of what was thought possible. They didn’t ask, “What can we do?” but instead, “What should we do to solve critical challenges?” As leaders, we can draw inspiration from the SR-71’s legacy: • Be bold: Innovation requires courage and the willingness to take calculated risks. • Set the bar high: True breakthroughs come when we refuse to settle for “good enough.” • Foster collaboration: The SR-71’s success was a team effort, proving that collective brilliance can achieve the unimaginable. The SR-71 reminds us that with the right mindset, even the “impossible” becomes possible. It’s a lesson I carry with me every day in leadership: dream big, stay bold, and never stop pushing the boundaries. #Leadership #Innovation #SR71Blackbird #Engineering #Aviation #BoldLeadership #Inspiration Lockheed Martin
A salute to the world’s fastest piloted aircraft, the SR-71 Blackbird!🫡 60 years ago today, the revolutionary Skunk Works® aircraft soared into history during its first flight, redefining the limits of speed, altitude and innovation. For over two decades, this engineering marvel delivered mission-critical intelligence, safeguarding our nation and paving the way for advancements that are mission critical to this day. As we honor the SR-71's legacy, we remain committed to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. The sky is not the limit—it’s just the beginning.

We're always on the lookout for groundbreaking innovations that redefine the logistics and transportation industry. The recent development of unpowered cargo gliders, as introduced by a Texas startup called Aerolane, caught our attention and left us thoroughly impressed. This ingenious approach to air freight, leveraging the simplicity and efficiency of towing autonomous cargo gliders, has the potential to reduce costs by up to 65% and significantly increase payload capacity. The concept of using gliders for transporting cargo is a nod to historical practices with a modern twist, promising not only cost reduction but also advancements in autonomous flight technology and sustainability. Without engines, fuel, or batteries in these gliders the potential environmental benefits and efficiency gains are incredible. The idea of aircraft "surfing" the vortices left by a leading plane for minimal drag and optimal lift showcases a blend of simplicity and sophistication in engineering thought. As a company at the forefront of supply chain solutions, Global Supply Chain Logistics Inc. is excited about the possibilities that such innovations bring to the table. The vision of "the speed of air at the cost of ground" resonates with our commitment to delivering efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable logistics solutions. We look forward to seeing how these cargo gliders evolve and potentially integrate into the broader logistics ecosystem. Innovations like these inspire us to continue exploring and adopting technologies that push the boundaries of what's possible in global supply chain management.
