Racing for a Cause: Financial Alliance’s CSR During our Monthly Business Conference yesterday, I had the opportunity to present to hundreds of our members on one of Financial Alliance Pte Ltd's key Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives: Our participation in the Race Against Cancer 2024 to support Singapore Cancer Society. After the presentation, an additional 16 people signed up, bringing the total to 60 participants, including staff, team directors and financial consultants. Our donations skyrocketed by 300%, reaching $8.8k! Thank you 🙏! Here are three reasons why we’re participating: 1. Fulfilling Corporate Social Responsibilities 2. Creating Awareness of Cancer Prevention 3. Engaging in Company-wide Activities This CSR initiative is especially important to Financial Alliance because it aligns with our core values of care and support for the community. As a company dedicated to the well-being of individuals and families, we understand the far-reaching impact that cancer can have. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗜 𝗔𝗺 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗔𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 This year, I am proud to participate in the Race Against Cancer 2024, organized by the Singapore Cancer Society. My reason for paricipating is simple: giving back is my way of expressing gratitude for how fortunate I am. Here are three key reasons why I’m involved: For Charity: It’s a privilege to support a cause that aids those in need, and this race allows me to contribute meaningfully to cancer patients and their families. Creating Awareness: By participating, I’m helping to spread the word on cancer prevention and the importance of early detection, which can save lives. Encouraging Participation: I hope to inspire my colleagues and friends to get involved, raising more funds to support those who need it most. Having personally experienced the challenges of cancer when a loved one was diagnosed, I understand the emotional and financial toll it can take. Unfortunately, not everyone is well-covered by medical insurance or critical illness policies, especially those from low-income or underprivileged backgrounds. This is why it’s essential for us to step up and make a difference. The Singapore Cancer Society provides a platform for us to contribute, and all we need to do is participate. So, why not? I recently attended my very first FIA Conference, and I’m thrilled to share my experience with you all! 🎉 As someone who has primarily been involved in the corporate sector, stepping into the world of NFP has been so refreshing. The FIA Conference was an eye-opening journey that left me inspired and motivated. Here is what I discovered: Collaboration and Networking: The conference was a hub of collaboration. Non-profit professionals came together to share ideas, experiences, and best practices. Impactful Sessions: The conference featured a diverse range of sessions. From fundraising strategies to event ideas, each talk provided practical takeaways. I learned about innovative approaches to address social challenges and enhance the impact of NFP organisations. Purpose-Driven: The heart of the conference was the shared commitment to a purpose and everyone was aligned. Where passion meets purpose to create a positive change. Real Stories: Hearing personal stories from beneficiaries was incredibly moving. These narratives reminded us why we do what we do. Challenges and Solutions: The conference didn’t shy away from discussing challenges. We explored emerging issues and global trends. However, alongside the challenges, we also delved into creative solutions and adaptive strategies. Building new habits for a Friday morning 🏃🏽♀️ and this is the view ☀️  It’s 61 days today until The Marketing Industry Sprintathon event held by The Marketing Society in collaboration with Mark Evans and Stand Up To Cancer It’s also probably only the second time I’ve run since the 2023 Sprintathon - 303 days ago! 😬 This year I’m determined to run stronger and faster than before. To do my bit to raise money for life changing cancer treatments. It’s 10 years this month that I lost my dear father to Prostate Cancer and as a sporting man himself I know he would have loved the concept of this event 👇 Bringing together the marketing industry to run the distance of a marathon in collective 400m relay teams of four… so really I only have to run 100m and I’m done but I know I’ll end up doing a few stints and as well as running to raise money we want to hit a new time record too! April is Testicular Cancer Awareness Month. Testicular cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in young men aged 15-35. It is highly treatable when detected early, and monthly self-checks are easy to do. I spoke with CITY-TV here in Toronto about some of the ways that Movember is working to bring increased awareness to this issue and about some of the ways we can encourage young men to get talking about their pair. https://lnkd.in/gM6edKDf
