This morning I'm thinking about small steps attorneys can take to help their firms run smoother. 📝 Client Intake: Having a standard process for events that come up on an almost daily basis, like new client onboarding, is critical. This ensures every client is onboarded the same way and helps the attorney feel confident that all bases have been covered when they begin working with a new client. 📝 File Management: It only takes a few minutes to create clear and concise naming and saving protocols, but this small step can save hours of frustration. Clear and defined file management means no more wasted time searching for documents that are incorrectly named, or even worse, spending hours drafting a document that is already in the system. 📝 Communication: You hear about the importance of communication everywhere, but that's because communication is SO critical to having a well-running firm. Copying or bcc'ing junior attorneys or support staff on important emails, or having weekly meetings to review the status of active cases can help prevent tasks from falling through the cracks. 📝 Defined Roles: Similar to communication, having defined roles gives everyone on a team a clear understanding of their responsibilities and what is expected of them. Clearly defining roles takes the guess work out of who is supposed to be doing what and ensures that tasks will get done when they're supposed to.
