Is it hard for you to take time away from the daily grind to relax? When you do go on vacation is it hard to actually relax, be present and stop thinking about all the other things you “need” to do? You’re probably thinking, “a trip would be nice but I have SO much other stuff I need to do!” And even if you do manage to step away it’s can be hard to relax and be present because your brain is reminding you of of your never-ending to do list. I get it. Thoughts like this used to keep me from being present when I was on vacation. Here’s what helps : Before your go off on your trip, Schedule everything on your calendar with a future date and time. And while you’re at it, put on your calendar the dates you are “scheduled “ to relax. This way, you don’t have to spend your entire vacation worrying about all the work that needs to be done. It’ll get done. Being an educator means always being "on," so this break offers a chance to slow down and refocus. My plans this holiday include: Personal Development: Spending time reading books that inspire growth and exploring new teaching strategies to implement next term. Family Time: Connecting with loved ones and creating cherished memories together. Relaxation: Unwinding with some favorite hobbies, perhaps writing, cooking, or simply enjoying moments of calm. Honestly, I don’t have a specific travel destination in mind, but I’d love to escape to a peaceful spot where nature takes center stage—a quiet retreat surrounded by greenery and tranquility.
