🦃 Last week Rachael Mahoney, Senior Vice President for the Neuroscience Institute, along with many other leaders, joined in the spirit of the season for Lehigh Valley Health Network's 14th annual turkey toss! Network colleagues lined up to redeem their LVHN provided certificates for a turkey or cheesecake, loaded directly into their cars by smiling members of our leadership teams. Brian Shaner, Director of Human Resources, took this year’s turkey toss to the next level donning an inflatable turkey costume to mark the occasion! Thank you to Jaindl Turkey Farms, Pocono Cheesecake Factory, and the Kellyn Foundation Mobile Market for supplying this years' food items. We are #LVHNProud to continue this annual tradition and extend our warmest wishes to all our colleagues and their families, for a safe, healthy, and Happy #Thanksgiving. 🦃

Are you part of an organization working to create a more just and equitable food system for children in the United States? Newman's Own Foundation wants to hear from you! The foundation's "Food Justice for Kids Prize" 🏆 offers up to $1 million in total funding over the next two years. They are seeking applications from nonprofits, public schools, and tribes working in two key areas: 🌽🌱 Indigenous Food Justice - Supporting community-based efforts to reclaim traditional food practices and systems, increase access to nutritious and affordable indigenous foods, and empower indigenous children to learn about, grow, and cook native foods. 🍽️🍎 Nutrition Education & School Food - Driving innovative projects that help children learn about healthy, culturally relevant foods and transform school meal programs to provide free, nutritious options. This #GivingTuesday, your generosity can go twice as far. As we enter this season of giving, we're excited to share with you a series of incredible stories that showcase God's amazing work through Equipping Farmers International (EFI). Over the next week, you'll witness how your support has transformed lives and communities. Tomorrow, on #GivingTuesday, we're launching our "Only God Can Do That!" campaign. For the next 7 days, we'll share stories that will inspire and amaze you - stories of hope, transformation, and divine intervention in the lives of farmers across the globe. But here's the most exciting part: A generous donor has stepped forward to match all new monthly gifts! This means your impact will be doubled, allowing us to reach even more farmers and communities with life-changing training and support. Why monthly giving? Your recurring support provides the stable foundation we need to plan long-term, sustainable projects. It allows us to say "yes" to more opportunities to serve and transform lives. One gift changes the lives of one family each month - in a year you would directly impact the food security of 120 people. As you read each story in the coming days, we invite you to prayerfully consider becoming a monthly partner. Your ongoing support will help write the next chapter of these miraculous stories. Stay tuned for our first story tomorrow, where you'll see how God turned the "impossible" into reality in war-torn Sudan. Together, let's partner with God to bring hope, abundance, and transformation to farmers around the world. Because truly, Only God Can Do That! Become a monthly partner: https://lnkd.in/g-_Qn5su

#MarchforMoms program in June, in Philly will continue to emphasize how community based partners are poised with HOW to improve outcomes for childbearing families without decades of policy debate and state/federal funding. In our third year of lifting up CBOs, these organizations are the heart of the community, providing critical work on slim margins and small staff. These organizations have the trust of the community. These organizations bring cultural congruency to facilitate health of families that often struggle with health literacy and trust with instutionalized care. These organizations have much to share about their work, their needs, and how YOU can help. I challenge every healthcare provider that has not heard the stories of community-based work to set biases aside and listen. You will be moved to understand the URGENCY to integrate a variety of CBO care models into the most broken healthcare system of all industrialized nations. #MarchforMoms #ExpandYourTeam #CommunityBasedHealthCare

I am fascinated by Mother Nature. In Winter looking at the frozen lakes and ponds, one wonders, how will the fishes and other life survive? The science behind frozen water layer amazes me. The pond in our yard, is deep, but we still put water heaters and bubblers for oxygen for our fishes. We do stop feeding them as they are hibernating and stay at the bottom of the pond. Do you have example of marvel of Mother Nature?
