The comparison is mind-blowing. A reasonable estimate could be that GPT-4 (according to ChatGPT) processes 100 to 1,000 times more text than a person does in their lifetime. But remember this: while LLMs can process far more text than a human in terms of quantity, they do so in a purely mechanical and pattern-based way, lacking the deeper, contextual, and experiential understanding that humans bring to language. We interpret words based on our real-world experiences, memories, emotions, and sensory inputs. For example, when I read about “a sunny day,” I can visualize it, recall personal experiences, and understand what the weather feels like. THAT is truly mind-blowing.
