The Goal of Field Services to to get it right the first time. That's called First Time Fix (FTF) or "In and Out in One Go" Last time, we talked about DTTS and how coupling it with other KPIs can give you a better picture of service quality. 🥅 Now, let’s dig into (FTF) “First Time Fix Rate”. This metric measures the percentage of issues that technicians resolve on their first visit. A high FTF rate is the goal: it means fewer delays, less downtime, and more satisfied customers. On the other hand, a low FTF rate might suggest techs are under-prepared (training), don’t have the right parts on hand (trunk stock), leading to longer wait times for repairs. As you can already see, adding another layer to the mix can help to sharpen the picture. If TTS (Time to Site) is great but FTF is poor, you’ll still have an unacceptable DTTR because the tech got there quickly, but were unable to fix it the first time – so the machine sits offline (and not making money.) If your TTS is low, but your FTF rate is great, this would indicate that the techs have the training, tools and parts they need to fix the machine, but volume of work is likely too high for the staffing model – or, could it be that the machine isn’t as robust as you’d hoped? Next, we’ll discuss Revisit Rate – a key KPI that tells you how often a single problem requires multiple visits. A high Revisit Rate could mean big trouble.
