Skewed data is a part of life! But how should we address it? A commenter asked if Z-scaling could fix skewed data… so let’s find out! In my latest video, I demonstrate the impact of Z-scaling on skewed data (hint: the data remains skewed). But don’t worry—I also share a better workflow for tackling that skew! Check it out and let’s dive into a more effective solution. Can you fix SKEWED data with Standard Scaler? https://lnkd.in/gvg2rZnX

⌛️ It’s hard to ensure that data always arrives on time, and working with stale data can lead to wrong decisions. Collate AI’s Data Quality Agent brings a new data freshness test to help validate that you're working with fresh data for up-to-date decision making. It will automatically observe tables to ensure data is fresh, and send alerts for any freshness issues. ⚠️ Check out the demo video: https://buff.ly/3ZEpat1

There’s always that delicate balance between quantity and quality in GIS projects. It reminds me of a PRV project I worked on where, after several rounds of QA, I finally asked my colleague, “What do you want—quantity or quality? Choose carefully.” It’s easy to laugh about it now, but in the moment, when you’re staring down hundreds of thousands of features, it can feel like you’re trying to fix an ocean with a bucket. Sometimes, data that’s ‘close enough’ starts sounding better when you consider the time it takes to achieve perfect accuracy. In my years of working with GIS this project was a ‘monster’ of a project! In the end, when the data was submitted, the client was happy. It was the first time they received quality data, and it made all the effort worth it. Delivering true quality pays off. We all know maps tell stories, and delivering true quality is what makes those stories impactful. Just another day in GIS! #GISLife #DataQuality #Mapping #ClientSuccess
There’s a fine line between Data Quality and Data “Eh, good enough”. One minute you’re QA’ing like a boss, the next you’re rationalizing that 100 meters off is “basically” accurate when you realize how long it will take to fix 200,000 features. After all, maps are just lies, right? That’s what I’ll tell myself.
