What makes a therapist a good practitioner? I came across something really stimulating to answer this and that made a 180 to my mindset. A good therapist is one with both experiential knowledge and a growth-oriented mindset. As a therapist, they see their process and the client’s journey as open, changing, and dynamic. When they allow themselves to not behold the client’s narrative or their narrow perception of the problem. Rather, understand the perspective that there are many possibilities for resolutions and may paths towards healing. #therapy #mentalhealth #awareness #mindandbeing

When the Therapist meets their Mirror 🪞 Sometimes, a session feels different. A word, a story, or a perception catches my breath because it feels eerily familiar, like looking into a mirror. It’s not just their struggle, it’s something I’ve known too. In that moment, the distance between therapist and client softens. I’m reminded of my wounds, scars, and even moments of triumph. It points at how naturally two realities have merged. It’s humbling to witness someone articulate emotions I’ve felt but perhaps never put into words. There’s a strange, quiet connection; not spoken, not acted upon, but undeniably present. Yet, I’m still the therapist, and the space remains theirs. But for a fleeting second, the mirror reflects something shared, and I find myself deeply grateful for the privilege of being able to enter someone’s inner world and holding space for it. To my therapist colleagues- Have you ever had a moment in a session where a client’s story felt like a reflection of your own? #therapistthoughts #sharedhumanity #therapyreflections #therapistlife #healingtogether #clientjourney #therapyroom #emotionalconnection #mentalhealthawareness #gratitudeintherapy #mental #therapist #therapy

Things I've Learned as a Therapist: #3 "The Power of Silence: Embracing What Need Not Be Spoken" In the realm of therapy, the art of knowing when not to speak can be as powerful as the words we choose to say. I've learned that not every thought or feeling needs to be verbalized to facilitate healing and growth. Silence can be a profound therapeutic tool. It creates a space for clients to process their thoughts and emotions, allowing them to arrive at insights organically. In these quiet moments, clients often find clarity and understanding that might be obscured by too many words. Moreover, respecting the unspoken can honor the complexity of human experience. Some emotions and experiences are too raw or delicate to be immediately put into words. Allowing these feelings to exist without forcing them into conversation respects the client’s process and timing. As a therapist, I've come to appreciate the balance between speech and silence, understanding that sometimes, the most profound moments of healing occur in the spaces between words.

As a therapist working with diverse clients and experiences, I've found that each individual's perception of therapy differs greatly. It's an inherently subjective journey, with significant doubts often surrounding it. Despite operating within a scientifically validated framework, I believe the major essence of therapy lies in the human-to-human connection. Even with a skilled therapist, the personal fit is crucial, as one may not resonate with every therapist, no matter how kind or knowledgeable they are. That's the complexity of human connection, which extends to the therapeutic relationship. If you ever feel that therapy isn't ‘progressing over a period of time’, one thing you can consider is whether the therapist is the right match for you, but ‘it isn’t the only thing’. Don't hesitate to communicate your feelings with them, and be open to finding a better fit that suits your needs and comfort level because therapy does help; maybe that particular therapist wasn’t a right match. #Counsellingpsychologist #allabouttherapy #Mentalhealth #yourtherapist

Searching for the right therapist isn't always quick; it may take time and patience to find your perfect fit 🍃 But what does “fit”mean in this case? Everyone is different, but it commonly refers to finding a therapist with whom you feel comfortable, safe, seen, and heard 💟 It's important to consider your needs, preferences, feelings, and the therapist’s approach and experience when searching for the best match 🎯 While it is completely normal to feel awkward or nervous after the first therapy session, give it some time. These feelings may improve as the therapeutic relationship develops ⏳ If negative feelings persist and you feel like you don't want to see a particular therapist anymore, that’s a valid reason to try someone else 🌀 -- Need help finding the right fit? When you think no one else loves you, I can guarantee your therapist does. 💛 Love in the therapy room isn’t something we often discuss, but it’s a crucial component of the process. Sometimes when I express my care for a client they might say, “You’re just saying that because you have to.” It’s not true…we don’t HAVE to like all our clients. If we continue to work with you, chances are it’s not just because you’re paying us, but it’s also because we have grown to deeply care for you. 💛 Therapists: have you ever told a client that you love them? What was the context and how did it land with the client? 💛 Clients: do you trust that your therapist cares deeply for you? Have you ever had a therapist say so? 💛 #therapy #therapist #confession #therapistconfession #meme #therapymeme #therapythoughts #therapysession #therapistsoflinkedin
