Call for Chapter Contributions: Digital Transformation, Environmental Sustainability and Wellbeing in the Global South This upcoming book explores how digital advancements can be harnessed to achieve environmental sustainability and improve human well-being in developing countries (Global South). By collecting diverse perspectives, the book aims to identify best practices for leveraging digital tools to create a more sustainable and equitable future for the Global South, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). New publication out!  In this paper, I and my co-author dream team, Dina Hestad, Gisle Solbu, Kristin Hansen and Heidi Rapp Nilsen discuss our experiences hosting a multi-stakeholder vision workshop in Molde kommune. We found that listening deeply, connecting to values, and defining direction are critical elements for establishing a relational foundation that can catalyze sustainability transformations. The System Within attempts to provide a succinct overview of the psycho-social-spiritual aspects of our global 'polycrisis' and potential pathways through. We'd love your thoughts on how this case for considering the inner dimension in systems transformation can be further developed. “Within a sacredness ethic, taking of resources is viewed as an exchange and a privilege that comes with stewardship responsibilities, and the knowledge that to waste has direct consequences on the web of interactions that sustain life. In contrast, a commodity ethic, even when tempered by thoughtful resource management, legislated environmental regulations, or consumer activism, is founded on maximizing consumer purchasing power and profits for shareholders.” - Kekuhi Kealiikanakaoleohaililani & Christian Giardina.   I just came across the article below from 2016 which draws on Indigenous perspectives to critique Western approaches to sustainability. It provides an extremely useful way to identify how we might move to more authentic, place-based sustainability practices.   However, it is not just the content that is valuable – the form of the article itself transforms the conventional objective academic format in a refreshing and welcome way. It opens with a traditional Hawai’ian greeting, followed by an invitation to orient ourselves in time and place before starting to read. It also concludes by re-affirming the connection between the authors and readers. 📢 New deep-dive paper: addressing the inner dimensions of sustainability 50 years after "The Limits to Growth" warned of the dangers of unchecked economic expansion on a finite planet, Earth4All presented a list of urgent policy actions to avert ecological and societal collapse. However, a new deep-dive paper commissioned by Earth4All highlights that the crucial psychological and cultural dimensions of systems change are still missing in the transition from policy to action. Seven co-authors, experts at the intersection of inner-outer change, address this gap in “The system within: addressing the inner dimensions of sustainability and systems transformation.” They argue that the inner dimension – our mindsets, beliefs, and cultural narratives – is fundamental to creating and perpetuating global crises and thus must be integrated into our approaches to addressing them.
