A very articulate report on people's perceptions on climate change- and who is accountable. There is so much disconnect between reality and perceptions! In the USA, we particularly need more and better news coverage, education and communication to incite urgent action. We Don't Have Time Ingmar Rentzhog Christina Carlmark ♦️Women and Climate Michelle Li Work on Climate Excerpt: "Roughly one in two Americans said they are not very or not at all exposed to environmental and climate change risks. Those perceptions contrast sharply with empirical evidence showing that climate change is having an impact in nearly every corner of the United States. A warming planet has intensified hurricanes battering coasts, droughts striking middle American farms and wildfires threatening homes and air quality across the country. And climate shocks are driving up prices of some food, like chocolate and olive oil, and consumer goods. Americans also largely believe they do not bear responsibility for global environmental problems. Only about 15 percent of U.S. respondents said that high- and middle-income Americans share responsibility for climate change and natural destruction. Instead, they attribute the most blame to businesses and governments of wealthy countries. "

Interesting study shows the world is concerned about climate change but 1 in every 2 Americans say they are not exposed to environmental and climate change risks despite the empirical evidence showing climate change impacting every corner of the US. What is crucial is that we need to turn high awareness and concern about climate change into action and see we have an equal stake in shaping the outcomes. #climateaction #science #globalgoals Read more: https://lnkd.in/ePmZFreR

It is extremely important to continue promoting climate justice. If we interrupt or fall behind schedule, we will pass on a larger debt to the next generation. However, only a few local governments are proactive in this effort. Most local governments are extremely reluctant to pay the current costs. This is also true for companies. In the meantime, the progress of global warming will not stop. Climate Week will be held in New York from tomorrow. Various adverse effects of abnormal weather will cause floods and sea level rise. In addition, the power generation from renewable energy that we are currently working on cannot be transmitted to the aging conventional power grid, which creates a situation where the electricity generated is not used efficiently. So what should we do? Assuming that government-led measures will definitely not be in time, I think that this is the stage where each individual should take appropriate action.

As the world focuses on reducing carbon emissions and enhancing financial reporting regulations to address climate change, there remains progress to be made in reporting transparency. Some of the largest carbon emitters are yet to provide a comprehensive view of their emissions. #ClimateChange #CarbonEmissions #ReportingTransparency

This support for Harris is a sign of a desire for change. The arrival of President Obama and now the nomination of Harris are a cry from people who have been discriminated against until now. Extreme weather caused by global warming is affecting poor people and countries. Companies that have ignored global warming and covered up their own wrongdoings, and politicians who have lined their pockets through fake lobbying activities, should step down immediately. I look forward to the emergence of politicians who will use the power of the class that demands change to build a new framework.

https://lnkd.in/g3JWCZ3F As the political debate over climate change continues to drive the conversation, the people living with the lack of progress should be demanding action, rather than rhetoric. Whether you faced intense storms, heat, fire or floods, few of us have not been touched. Yet the lack of leadership and progress remains. The discussion on climate change is fueled by huge amounts of lobbying dollars, most of which is intent on muddying the waters and delaying any agreement, mitigation or action. Corporate and political self-interest has been the driving force, and the populace has permitted this by not demanding better. We are mired in times where memes, insults and sounds bites drive arguments rather than sound policy, discussion, planning and progress. And the voters have rewarded it. Climate change does and will cost you - more and more if we continue to delay. We cannot hope to address the urgent issue of climate change with our current methods. We need plans not excuses. Change will occur one way or another. In a democracy we have the choice to decide if that change will be driven through positivity and decisive action or the status quo. A healthy planet is profitable for everyone. #HPRT #wecaretorepair

Climate Adaptation 1- It's starting as a new Investment category - E.g. 2024 Environmental Sustainability Hype Cycle from Gartner has inserted it is at the earliest hype stage of "technology trigger". - The World Economic Forum estimates that adaptation (also known as “resilience”) will be worth up to $2 trillion by 2026. - The WhiteHouse has just issued a report about Climate Adaptation https://lnkd.in/emuxP7tf. 2- It is starting to be tangible E.g. South Carolina is one of the first states with a dedicated climate resiliency office and a plan for adapting to climate change. 3- Where it is needed, it is needed now and gives tangible results now, locally. Easier to be handled by politicians (as opposed to the political complexity of climate mitigation). - For example one does not need global cooperation - something impossible in a dividing world with increasing wars scenarios - for investment in adaptations, as opposed to climate mitigation which needs-global cooperation. - Another example? South Carolina is facing the reality that in some areas, managed retreat may be the only option. A 2023 resilience report found that the state may need to buy out and tear down roughly 700,000 flood-prone homes.
