Meme-vertising is not a thing. A meme is just another medium to communicate with the consumer. When we use a billboard, we don’t call it outdoors-vertising. We just pick the most convenient billboard where our brand meets our consumer, and slap our creative on it. So, when a meme starts trending, we examine it. And if it matches what our brand stands for, we quickly use it. For a short burst of eyeball-grabbing. And yes, a brand can be built solely by using memes. Like Amul did the billboard thing. But that’s a call one takes.

In my opinion, user behavior on Snapchat is similar to YouTube. You are clicking on a creators story with the intention to 𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 watch it. Crazy right?
