Happy to announce that our latest paper is now available in the American Chemical Society Journal of Physical Chemistry C! Using hybrid-DFT molecular dynamics simulations, we investigated several key aspects of photocatalytic water oxidation catalyzed by a [Ru-bda]-dye complex. We discuss the equilibrium dynamics of the low-valent Ru(III)-bda intermediate and assess the feasibility of water oxidation following the water nucleophilic attack mechanism. Furthermore, we examine the effect of using hybrid functionals for these types of systems. 🎉 Award at Jugend forscht! 🎉 We are proud to announce that NUVISAN has been recognized at Jugend forscht for its outstanding project, Black “gold” from mushrooms – melanin extraction from Armillaria mellea . This prestigious recognition is a testament to our unwavering dedication to fostering future talents in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). In this project, our Microbiological chemistry department collaborated with young talent to establish a protocol for cultivating fungi in shake flasks. His aim was to find the conditions that produce the highest yield of melanin by varying the ingredients of culture media and to conduct first purification steps of melanin. Happy to share our latest research! 🧪 In this study, we used ReaxFF molecular dynamics simulations to explore the retro Diels-Alder reaction between furan and N-methylmaleimide—a critical step for creating self-healing and recyclable polymer networks.
