New Year, New Homes – Exciting Developments for 2025! Earlier this year, we announced plans to deliver 184 new homes across three sites in Glasgow and the Scottish Borders in 2025, with 128 designated as affordable housing. Notably: 🏡 Howdenburn Primary School, Jedburgh: In partnership with Scottish Borders Housing Association, we're building 70 affordable homes on a 5.57-acre site, featuring two-to four-bedroom homes and green spaces. 🏙️ Toryglen, Glasgow (Phase 4): A mixed-tenure development including 58 affordable homes for Wheatley Group, plus 56 private-sale homes designed with energy-saving technologies and green features. These projects, alongside work starting on 218 affordable homes at Silverlea (Edinburgh) and Newbyres (Midlothian), reflect Cruden's ongoing commitment to tackling Scotland’s housing crisis and creating high-quality homes for communities. Yesterday, I had the honor to deliver on a campaign pledge. The first intentionally affordable housing project in 25yrs, and it is extremely exciting. - Deed restricted, permanently affordable home ownership opportunities for households that are 80-120% AMI or up to $160K for a family of four. - Roughly $400K starting with a cap of 5%/yr on market value increase, which is significant. - 35 units, see website for how to express interest. - Comp Plan in 2005 called out the need for Affordable Housing, though the only approach to date has been free market driven, leading to an $850K average home price and even $800K paired homes in some neighborhoods. - 100% of Land Purchase was made possible by American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) grant dollars from Congress and the Biden-Harris Administration. - Additionally, the $1M grant from the CO Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) helps in funding the Towns contribution to the project as a part of the Prop 123 program. - Speaking of Prop123, Erie has issued the first building permit in the state!! - Our pledge was to build 5 units per year for three years, we will septuple that goal!! LETS GET IT, LETS GOOOO!!!!
