📚 Did you know that recently released federal data suggests as many as 4 million college students may be experiencing food insecurity, with 1.5 million facing homelessness? Basic needs insecurity is a critical issue affecting student success: Students experiencing food insecurity are over 40% less likely to graduate. More than one-third of Black undergraduate students report food insecurity, compared to 18% of white students. Nearly one-quarter of community college students face food insecurity, higher than at public and private non-profit four-year institutions. At Lewte, we are dedicated to helping students pursue higher education and tackling the issues that hinder their path to knowledge. By addressing these disparities, we can promote equity and ensure all students have the opportunity to succeed. #HigherEd #StudentSuccess #FoodInsecurity #EquityInEducation #Lewte #College

🚨 Today marks the first day of the 2025 Georgia Legislative Session, and IDRA is ready to advocate for every student in Georgia! 🚨 As an independent, non-profit organization, IDRA is dedicated to ensuring equal educational opportunities for every child through strong public schools. Our mission is to promote educational justice, build excellent and equitable schools, and protect the civil rights of systemically-excluded students across the state. Georgia has a unique opportunity to lead the nation in education reform. However, some are attempting to undermine trust in our public schools, pushing harmful policies that compromise safety, inclusivity, and the well-being of our diverse student body. IDRA calls on Georgia's state leaders to reject divisive rhetoric and harmful ideologies. Instead, we urge them to invest in a public education system that guarantees every student access to an excellent, safe, and inclusive education—free from discrimination and bias. Together, we can create an education system that truly serves all students. 💪📚 #EducationForAll #GeorgiaEducation #IDRA #PublicSchoolsMatter #EducationalJustice #GApol Read IDRA's Priorities for the 2025 Georgia General Assembly Session: https://lnkd.in/ghTZCWTx

Our services provide essential support like tutoring and academic counseling specifically designed for teen moms. 📚✨ Why does this matter? Education is a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty. Education is not just a tool; it’s a beacon of hope that lights up the path to a brighter future. At Voice of Slum, we believe that every child, regardless of their background, deserves a chance to learn and grow. By bridging the education gap, we are not only changing lives but also empowering communities to rise above poverty and embrace opportunity. Our initiatives focus on ensuring that underprivileged children have access to quality education, school supplies, and mentorship programs. From building classrooms to providing learning materials, every effort is a step closer to creating a world where education is a right, not a privilege. Through the tireless efforts of our team and the unwavering support of our donors, we are turning dreams into realities. Behind every pencil, every notebook, and every classroom is a story of resilience and determination. These children are eager to learn, to question, and to grow. They carry the hope of transforming their own lives and the lives of others around them. It’s our responsibility to nurture that hope, to give them the tools they need to succeed, and to show them that their dreams are valid and achievable. . . . #voiceofslum #education #change #betterment #underprivileged #nonprofit #brightshine #dreams #brightfuture #reality #empower #inspire #help . . . Navigating the complexities of bureaucratic abuse and community indifference can pose significant challenges for students who find themselves in situations of abuse, underfunding, and underappreciation. Seeking support from advocacy groups, legal resources, and counseling services becomes a crucial step in addressing the injustices faced. These avenues may provide reassurance that you are not alone and that your well-being and rights should be prioritized and protected. However, reaching out to these support systems may not always yield immediate assistance. Many of these spaces may be overwhelmed, underfunded, or lacking adequate resources, especially in the aftermath of a pandemic that has taken a toll on everyone. The year 2020 not only marked the onset of a global pandemic but also signified the beginning of my PhD journey as a mature student with disabilities, including frequent seizures exacerbated by the substandard family housing provided by the University of Toronto. On top of these challenges, the tragic loss of my son during Christmas, followed by a period of depression, added to the weight of difficulties I faced. Throughout this turbulent time, the University of Toronto's response was disheartening. They not only failed to provide adequate funding, making it impossible for me to afford their own rent, but also turned a blind eye to faculty abuse directed towards me, without any repercussions. This culminated in my eviction, accompanied by the threat of terminating my funding due to a failure to meet their completion timeline. The administration disregarded the hardships I endured over a year and a half, leaving me to advocate for myself during a tumultuous period when I should have been focusing on completing the degree they had invited me to pursue. As I await being locked out of my residence by the sheriff, the challenge of navigating this situation while striving to complete my degree looms large. And it is these kinds of experiences that one should consider when considering which educational facility to enter when seeking an education, because there is no education that is worth the cost of a students life. #PhDStudent, #UniversityofToronto, #HigherEducation, #StudentSupport, #TarajiPhenson, #AcademicCommunity, #DisabilityAwareness, #LGBTQSupport, #MentalHealthAwareness, #Fundraiser, #SupportLocalScholars, #CommunitySupport, #EducationMatters, #HelpingHand, #Gratitude, #Resilience, #OvercomingChallenges, #Hope, #HigherEdFund, #Empowerment, #GiveBack

The Consequences of Living with Regret! Have you ever said something and immediately wished you hadn't? Imagine if I could offer you an opportunity to take back those hurtful words. Just imagine the embarrassment you could have saved yourself and the hurt you could have spared the other person. As adults, we all make mistakes, but let's think about how difficult it is for our children, who are still learning about consequences and life experiences. This is where second chances come into play. They can make all the difference in education and provide a moment to pause for critical thinking. It's crucial for non-profit organizations and governments to come together and intervene before it's too late. So, let's ask ourselves, what side of history will we look back on 5-10 years from now? Addressing Literacy Challenges: One Student's Inspiring Initiative 📚 The pandemic has left a lasting impact on student literacy rates. Two Las Vegas high schoolers, Celine Chang and Rohitha Baskaran, are taking matters into their own hands. They founded ReadUp Youth: A nonprofit dedicated to improving literacy rates among underserved students. Their first project? A book drive that collected over 1,200 books for students in Title I schools. Their mission? "To offer these kids an opportunity to have books in their homes so that they can read, and then they can improve their literacy rates, because being able to read opens the doors to so many opportunities." But they're not stopping there. They're developing an AI-powered app to make reading more engaging and track student progress. They're also taking a stand against book bans that limit access to diverse perspectives. This is a powerful reminder that even young people can make a big difference. How is your organization working to address educational inequities? If you share your story with us we may highlight your nonprofit cause in our next post! #Nonprofit #Education #Literacy #YouthEmpowerment #ReadUpYouth #SocialImpact
