Dissociation is like your mind's way of taking a break from reality when things get too overwhelming or stressful. It’s a bit like daydreaming, but more intense and often out of your control. When you dissociate, you might feel disconnected from your thoughts, feelings, or surroundings, almost as if you’re watching yourself from the outside or in a dream. Imagine you’re at a busy party, and you suddenly start feeling very anxious. The noise, the people, and the excitement become too much. To cope, your mind starts to “shut off” a bit. You might feel like you’re floating above the scene, watching everything happen but not really feeling like you’re there. Your body feels numb, and sounds become distant, almost like you’re underwater. You see your friends talking and laughing, but it feels like they’re miles away. This is your mind's way of protecting you from the overwhelming situation by creating a barrier between you and the intense feelings or memories. Dissociation can happen in response to stress, trauma, or intense emotions and can be mild or severe, depending on the person and the situation. A therapist can help you understand why it happens, assist you in recognizing what triggers these episodes and teach grounding techniques to help you stay connected to the present moment. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "Liberation-Based Therapy: Empowering Emotional Wellness Through Culturally Affirming, Strength-Based Healing in NY & NJ" 🫱🏽🫲🏻Book an Appointment: Link In Bio 🫱🏽🫲🏻 #Dissociation #MentalHealth #Trauma #EmotionalWellness #SelfAwareness #MentalHealth #Therapy #Psychotherapy #mentalhealthawareness #liberationbasedtherapy Image Description: Photo of three friends sitting on the couch in front of a birthday cake. Do you feel overwhelmed by the constant barrage of stimuli, responsibilities, and expectations? Even those who don’t have anxiety find themselves treading water with the expectations of society. When you feel anxious, these daily stressors can exacerbate feelings of unease, worry, and tension, making it challenging to find moments of peace amidst the chaos. For centuries, poets, philosophers, and healers alike have soaked up the restorative benefits of nature. Whether it's a leisurely stroll through a forest, a quiet moment by the ocean, or simply basking in the warmth of the sun, nature has a unique ability to soothe the mind, calm the body, and restore a sense of equilibrium. https://lnkd.in/eivZn7bb #anxiety #depression #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #selfcare #love #mentalhealthmatters #stress #selflove #ptsd #mentalillness #therapy #healing #health #wellness #mindfulness #anxietyrelief #motivation #recovery #trauma #life #psychology #sad #meditation #anxietyawareness #pain #loveyourself

#mentalhealth is often discussed in terms of visible symptoms and known treatments, but there are aspects of the journey that many don't talk about. Today, I’d like to share an experience that’s shaped my understanding of mental health in a profound yet subtle way. It was during the quiet moments—those instances when I was alone with my thoughts—that I truly began to understand the complexity of #mentalwellbeing. Here’s what I discovered: #ThePowerofSilence: In our noisy world, silence can be unsettling. Yet, it was in the silent moments that I found clarity. Sitting in quiet contemplation allowed me to listen to my inner voice and understand my deepest anxieties and fears. It was like peeling back layers to reveal the true state of my mental health. #TheSubtleSigns: Mental health issues don't always manifest in obvious ways. For me, it was the constant feeling of being #overwhelmed, the subtle dread on Sunday evenings, and the occasional sense of detachment from my surroundings. These were signs that something was amiss, even though everything appeared fine on the surface. #TheHealingPowerofNature: Taking solitary walks in nature became my sanctuary. The gentle rustling of leaves, the distant chirping of birds, and the calming flow of a stream had a therapeutic effect that no medication could match. #Nature has a way of grounding us, reminding us of the simplicity and beauty of life. #RediscoveringJoyinSmallThings: I realized that joy isn't always found in grand achievements or big events. It’s in the small, often overlooked moments—savoring a cup of coffee, watching a sunset, or losing myself in a good book. These little pockets of joy became my anchors, pulling me back to a place of #mentalbalance. #MindfulBreathing: One of the most transformative practices I discovered was mindful breathing. It’s incredible how something as simple as focusing on each breath can bring an overwhelming sense of calm and clarity. This practice became my go-to during stressful moments, helping me center myself and regain control. #TheImportanceofSelfCompassion: Perhaps the most significant lesson was learning to be kind to myself. It’s easy to be our own harshest critic, but self-compassion taught me to treat myself with the same #kindness and #understanding that I offer to others. This shift in mindset was pivotal in my mental health journey. Mental health is deeply personal and often, it's the quiet, unspoken experiences that shape us the most. By sharing these moments, I hope to shed light on the subtle yet profound aspects of mental health that often go unnoticed. Have you experienced similar moments that have shaped your mental health journey? Let’s share and learn from each other in this safe space. #MentalHealth #SelfDiscovery #Mindfulness #NatureHealing #SelfCompassion #QuietMoments

Thank you Pravar Anand and Times Now for featuring my views on body weight and stress. The mind-body connection is a profound mystery, with each person's narrative uniquely weaving together their physical and emotional experiences. A therapeutic space offers a sacred reflection ground to; embrace imperfections, cultivate self-awareness and explore choices for deepening mind-body harmony. Therapy can be a beautiful journey toward 'Advait,' or oneness, integrating body and mind. While modern spas, beauty salons, and fitness centers provide relaxation and wellness benefits, they may not replicate the depth of a therapeutic experience. However, some innovative wellness centers now incorporate therapeutic principles, offering: - Mindfulness programs - Holistic treatments - Supportive communities These spaces can be beneficial, but true mind-body connection requires personalized exploration, typically best facilitated in a dedicated therapy setting. Can modern wellness spaces evolve to provide a more holistic experience, bridging the gap between relaxation and profound self-discovery? #mentalhealth #breakingthestigma #psychology #psychotherapy #healing #counseling #healing #life #counseling #reachout #psychoanalysis #worklife #psychotherapyforeveryone #management #business #humanresource #whiteapples #mentalhealthmatters https://lnkd.in/gubfV4M6
