@Wimbledon – located just down the road from our HQ – wrapped up yesterday, and aside from all the courtside action, what else was noteworthy this year?
There were several practices and initiatives that stood out for me…
🗽 Going global – Now in its third year, finals viewing experience, The Hill in New York moved to a larger space in 2024. While Wimbledon is of course televised globally, this highlights the power of merging the live with the virtual to connect with audiences on an international scale, and it featured live music and entertainment, too.
🍃 Environmental action – The Championships continued to communicate its Environment Positive Every Day theme, which encourages everyone to take action, so that it can build a community of Environment Positive Champions. I quite like this one as it resonates with one of our @Sledge mantras that if we all commit to making small daily steps and changes, together we can make a big difference.
🍓 Queuing, done differently – Wimbledon is known for its lengthy queues, and so this year organisers decided to mix things up, with the launch of a Queue Village. Complete with food, drinks and brand activations, it featured free strawberries and cream from @Barclays, a selfie-ready backdrop made of tennis balls by @American Express, and complimentary coffees from @Lavazza, among others.
Did you make it down to the event this year? If so, what stood out for you?
