🚗 CEO Scott Marshall Visits FIG Recycling Ltd ♻️ Yesterday, our CEO, Scott Marshall, visited Fig Recycling to see their impressive operation in action. With Liberty’s recent BCorp certification, we’re on a continued mission to reduce carbon emissions and support sustainable practices. Fig Recycling takes old plastic products, breaks them down, and grinds them into pellets, which are then remade into new products—helping close the loop in recycling. ♻️ We also got a look at the impressive stock levels at Fig’s sugarcane paper warehouse. As part of Liberty’s janitorial offering, their sugarcane paper breaks down in under 10 seconds, preventing blockages and promoting sustainability. Thank you Stephen Gear & Fig Products for the visit yesterday! We’ll be featuring more of our amazing suppliers in the coming weeks, so stay tuned! #Sustainability #BCorp #Recycling #EcoFriendly #SugarcanePaper #Liberty #GreenBusiness #InnovativeSolutions #WasteNot #EcoRevolution #SustainableBusiness #CircularEconomy #PlasticRecycling #GreenTech #ZeroWaste #EcoInnovation #EcoFriendlyProducts #SustainableLiving

🌱❓ What is a Circular Economy? It's a shift from the outdated "take-make-waste" model to a circular system, where resources are continuously recycled, reused, and regenerated to their fullest potential. In the forest-based sector, we’re leading this circularity by recycling 82% of paper packaging in Europe and reusing resources. Did you know fibre can be recycled over 25 times? By keeping materials in a continuous loop and repurposing resources, we significantly reduce waste and protect the planet. eugreensource.org #Greensource Cepi Pro Carton - The association of carton and cartonboard manufacturers The Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment & European Pulp Industry Sector AISBL & EUROPEAN ORGANISATION OF THE SAWMILL INDUSTRY

♻️ At APR Plastics, we’re proud to celebrate National Recycling Week by spotlighting our work in mechanical recycling of LDPE! Low-density polyethylene (LDPE) – commonly used in plastic bags, stretch wrap, and various packaging – is given a new life through our recycling processes. The used LDPE is carefully cleaned, shredded, heated, and transformed into new pellets, perfect for non-food grade applications. We even use these recycled pellets to create 100% recycled builders film, supporting sustainable construction. Each step we take helps keep plastic out of landfill and puts it back into the circular economy. Together, let’s reduce, recycle, and reinvent the future of plastic! 🌍 #NationalRecyclingWeek #APRPlastics #LDPERecycling #MechanicalRecycling #CircularEconomy

🌍❗️Today marks Global Recycling Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of recycling in preserving our planet for future generations. As we celebrate this global initiative, let's take a look at the realm of packaging recycling and its role in fostering circular economy.♻️ PET is a top performer in recycling, at least, when it comes to bottles. However, PET trays, which are used in the food packaging industry, are currently only being recycled in small quantities. The complexity of multi-layered plastic trays makes processing them into high-quality recyclate more challenging, but there's untapped potential in their reuse. At Herbold Meckesheim , we address this challenge with our state-of-the-art PET Tray Washing Line. This system efficiently transforms the contaminated input material into clean PET flakes, ensuring pure recyclates. ______________________________________ #GlobalRecyclingDay #herboldmeckesheim #engineering #plastics #recycling

Ever wonder what happens to your plastic bottle after you toss it in the recycling bin? 🌍♻️ It's ground up, melted down, and transformed into rPET—ready to be molded into new bottles, fabric, and more. This is the magic of #circularity, giving plastic multiple lives and keeping it out of our oceans, rivers, and food chain. The real challenge, though, is collecting high-quality post-consumer plastic. Contamination and improper sorting often prevent effective recycling. To make a significant impact, we need to improve collection rates and increase the percentage of recycled content in rPET bottles. That's where our #PRECYCLER steps in. Positioned where you use your bottles, it ensures high-quality PET is collected and transformed into valuable rPET, closing the loop and making recycling truly effective. This is why we do what we do. 🌱💚 Below - this is what our #Precycler produces: rPET-ready raw material. #Recycling #CircularEconomy #rPET #Sustainability #Precycler #EnvironmentalImpact

The EPA has declared November 15 as America Recycles Day. It is a great day to celebrate the ways we are working toward plastics circularity. Yesterday I toured our Connersville, Indiana, plastic film recycling facility which is scheduled to begin operations in early 2025. This groundbreaking facility is expected to be one of the largest and most sophisticated plastic film recycling facilities in the world. The bales of plastic film in these photos represent the amount of used plastics that NOVA will prevent from going to landfill and recycle into rPE in less than one day of operation. Once fully operational, our first recycling facility will supply over 110 million pounds of post-consumer recycled linear low-density polyethylene (rLLDPE) for a wide range of applications, including flexible food packaging. NOVA is focused on providing high-quality rPE to meet the growing market demand for sustainable packaging and actively investing in mechanical recycling infrastructure in North America to meet our customers' needs. #recycling #circularity #AmericaRecyclesDay

https://lnkd.in/dzPxkFkf Berry Global, Inc. partnered with Abel & Cole to introduce lightweight, refillable PP milk bottles for the Club Zero Refillable Milk service. These bottles can be reused up to 16 times before recycling, producing fewer greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional glass bottles. Research by Abel & Cole shows that reusing these bottles just four times cuts the carbon footprint by half compared to glass, which would require over 15 returns to achieve similar savings. This initiative is expected to prevent 450,000 single-use plastic bottles from reaching landfills each year, equivalent to 23 tonnes of plastic. #Webpackaging #PackagingInnovation #Sustainability #Reuse #RefillableBottles #RefillablePackaging #Milk

Our friends over at The Packaging Forum recently launched a collection system for recycling the lids and caps from bottles and jars. When recycling was standardised across the motu, we lost the ability to recycle these small, but resource-rich, items at kerbside, because they make sorting the rest more tricky. It's great to see The Packaging Forum stepping up with a solution, led by producers who want to take responsibility for their waste streams. It's product stewardship in action and we love it! So, get amongst it, e hoa ma. Just save your caps and lids, separate into plastics and metal, then drop them off at your nearest collection site. (And don't worry, for those of us not in the upper North Island, there are new collections sites being added over the coming weeks and months!)
