A recent report from the China Passenger Car Association showed that in July 2024, 50.7% of all cars purchased in China were new energy vehicles (NEVs). This represents a significant jump compared to three years ago, when NEVs only made up 7% of total sales. NEV sales in July increased by 37% compared to July 2023, following a 28.6% rise in June. BYD maintained a strong presence, especially in emerging markets like Southeast Asia. #car #auto #ecofriendly #sustainableliving #nev #vehicle #electric #manufacturing #automobile #renewableenergy #cleanenergy #electriccar #electricvehicles #newenergy #carshow #Lingan

Electric Vehicles Surpass 50% of Monthly Car Sales in China for the First Time In an unprecedented shift, more than half of all cars sold in China last month were electric, marking a significant milestone for the automotive industry. According to data from the China Passenger Car Association, new-energy vehicles (NEVs), including electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs), accounted for a record-high 51.1% of retail sales in July. This surge in EV adoption is already making a noticeable impact on China's oil demand. The increase in the number of EVs on the road since last year has resulted in an approximate 4% reduction in transport fuel demand. Meanwhile, sales of traditional combustion-engine cars in China plummeted by a staggering 26% year-on-year, as the NEV share of the market grew by 15 percentage points in July 2023 alone. #electricvehicles #evs #EV

In July, for the first time ever, more new energy vehicles (NEVs - pure electric vehicles or plug-in hybrids) were sold in China than other types of passenger cars. 🚗 🚗 ⚡ ⚡ Just three years ago, the share of NEVs sold was a measely 7 percent. China has already been the largest automotive market in the world for over a decade. Now it is also the largest NEV market by far. Local Chinese companies, such as BYD, look set to dominate in their home market. The scale they build up in China will make them very competitive abroad as well. https://lnkd.in/ePX9uk_8.

Hyundai Motor achieved a record profit of 4 trillion won in Q2 2024, driven by strong sales of premium SUVs and hybrids in the US. This success contrasts with a decline in the South Korean market. Looking ahead, Hyundai plans to expand its hybrid vehicle lineup to navigate potential shifts in US policies post-election. The company's strategic focus on hybrids reflects growing consumer demand and prepares for potential changes in electric vehicle regulations. https://lnkd.in/g_hAuPh7 #Hyundai #HybridVehicles #ElectricVehicles #EV #USMarket #AutomotiveIndustry #SustainableMobility #GreenTech #HyundaiMotor #IONIQ #SUV #AutoSales #InflationReductionAct #USAutoMarket #HybridGrowth #EVPolicy #KoreanAutomaker #Q22024 #RecordProfit #FutureCars

New energy vehicles have surpassed traditional fuel-powered passenger cars in monthly sales in China In a significant milestone, new energy vehicles (NEVs) have surpassed traditional fuel-powered passenger cars in monthly sales for the first time in China. According to preliminary data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), NEVs, which include battery-only and hybrid-powered cars, accounted for 50.84% of total passenger car sales in July. https://lnkd.in/dqfsfMWn This surge represents a 37% year-on-year increase and a 3% rise compared to June sales, according to CNBC. China, as the world’s largest car market, has see NEVs gain traction despite overall economic growth slowing down. The intense competition in the NEV category has even led to a price war among manufacturers. Notably, battery-only cars outsold hybrid vehicles in July, with a battery-only penetration rate of 28%, according to CNBC. https://lnkd.in/dpvRSHmB The Chinese government has been supporting the domestic NEV industry for over a decade through subsidies and favorable policies. Their latest trade-in policy aims to boost consumption by providing strong support to buyers of new energy cars. Additionally, at the city level, NEV owners enjoy unrestricted access to public roads, while gas-powered cars may have limited access during certain days of the week. However, NEVs have not experienced the same rapid adoption in the United States as they have in China. Despite this, the shift toward cleaner and more sustainable transportation is a positive trend globally, and it will be interesting to see how NEV adoption continues to evolve in both countries. Electric Cars on the Rise (for now, abroad) In Norway, BEVs accounted for nearly all car sales in 2024 (89%), and in China, electric vehicle sales are expected to surpass those of internal combustion engine vehicles for the first time in 2025. Now, interesting news is also coming from the UK. Here, BEVs made up 25% of the overall market in 2024 (with a 58% growth over the year, driven by incentive policies and significant manufacturer discounts), solidifying the UK as the second-largest market in Europe for new BEVs by volume. Sharing some interesting news for Automotive Statistics. In Jul 2024, 1. China - New Energy Vehicles ( NEVs) - BEV, HEV & FCEVs crossed 50% mark first time. They could jump from 5% to 50% in just 3 years. Hope that this statistics is true. 2. India - CNG cars sale overtook Diesel cars first time. Equivalent NEVs, BEV & HEV figure is 4.9% here. If China can do, we also can. Need to plan how!
