✈️ I'll be tuning into Sophie Morgan's Fight to Fly documentary, delving into an important issue: the challenges wheelchair users face when flying. 🌍 As an advocate for accessible travel, I believe it's crucial to highlight and address the difficulties that millions encounter while navigating airports and airplanes. From inadequate seating arrangements to limited assistance, the barriers are many and often overlooked. Representing individuals who have suffered catastrophic injuries including, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries and amputations I hear too often the challenges that they are presented when travelling, often being put off by it altogether. This show is a call to action for the travel industry to implement meaningful changes. #Accessibility #InclusiveTravel #WheelchairUsers #TravelIndustry #ChangeNeeded #Advocacy

OMG, it’s actually happening. Our documentary, “Sophie Morgan’s Fight to Fly”, is on @channel4 this MONDAY 22nd, at 9 pm. Over a year in the making and produced by the ever-brilliant game changers Hello Sunshine (+ Making Space Media ) this film illuminates the horrifying realities of flying as a wheelchair user and makes the case for systemic change. Featuring many leading UK advocates and exclusive new stats from Scope we go undercover to reveal the injustices - and the consequences - we face when we fly. It’s a hard watch at times but a necessary one. Importantly, we also reveal solutions to our challenges, to inspire and inform both the disabled and non disabled community alike. I am beyond proud of this work. It’s what I feel I am made for. Please share, watch and share some more. https://lnkd.in/dTResuiR Do you know about Boy Child Advancement and Protection Foundation-BCAPF International? The upbringing of the boy child in our society today is faulty. We channel our energy on the girl child. We show much concern about the trials and the challenges of the girl child. Without downplaying the laudable efforts of many individuals for the girl child it must however be stated that many of those problems would not have arisen if the boys are trained to become civilized and responsible men. Many male children are subjected to different forms of abuse sexual, physical and otherwise. They are victims of forced conscription as child soldiers and forced labour by unscrupulous employers. Even some parents find it handy to lend their male children to child labour in the name of family survival. Even when the society observes this, no one takes it as anything. The boy child is generally seen as the man in the making, naturally formidable enough to survive all odds. But this is not true. The boy child is not made of stone but of normal human sensibilities, subject to feelings and emotions. Sustained abuse gradually dehumanizes the boy child. If help does not come, his emotions turn sour and he develops a seething anger and bitterness against the society. The monster in him is ready waiting for manifestation. Rape, armed robbery, kidnapping, terrorism and other heinous crimes are pepertuated by irrespopnsible men who we failed to protect and train when they were younger. Childhood and adolescent periods are formative stages in life. Habits and characters developed in this stage stay for a lifetime. Therefore protecting and reforming the boy child is a duty not an option. All the advancement of human society will be at risk it we neglect this very duty. Bad governance, corruption, drug trafficking and other evil activities cannot be put in check except we deliberately transform the life of the boy child so that he won't grow up to replace the present perpetrators. The future of our lives and society is in our hands. No matter your profession , tribe or religion, we all have roles to play. Join hands with us to care for, love, protect and reform the boy child to become wonderful men tomorrow. It is to the benefit of all. At the Boy Child Advancement and Protection Foundation (BCAFP) International, we envision a world where every boy child has the opportunity to reach his full potential. As the daughter of a quadriplegic, air travel has always stirred mixed emotions for me. While many find it exciting, for disabled persons like my dad, it often felt burdensome. The nervousness of attendants, health risks from transfers, costly wheelchair repairs - it all adds up. Documentaries like this are so important in helping others understand the unique challenges wheelchair users face during travel. They shine a light on experiences that many might not consider. While I always try to focus on the positive, it's true that traveling as a wheelchair user can be incredibly difficult and emotionally taxing at times. Ironically, I've spent nearly a decade in health and wellness tech, helping tens of thousands of studio owners and clients stay connected to their movement and health. In a way, I'm making sure others can do what my dad couldn't. Documentaries like these drive change and its companies like Delta who are making this world more inclusive. The company is releasing new seat designs for wheelchair users and with my dad's recent passing, I wish he could've seen this progress. To disabled travelers and those who love them: I see you, I understand, and I am here to hold space for you. Let's continue to share our stories and celebrate every win that makes this world more inclusive. It's through understanding that we can create real progress. #DisabledTravel #Inclusion #Accessibility

I had the very same conversation with a family last week that I have had dozens of times. The experience inspired me to write this article. Adult children often ask us: "How can we best approach our family members (e.g. our elders) about the idea of filming their stories?" They feel unsure, nervous even. My answer is never: "Tell them it's a gift" but rather nearly the opposite. I hope this short, power-packed article helps you or your clients better understand how to think about, frame and present the priceless opportunity of capturing family stories and history on film. #wisdom #familylegacy #familystories #familyhistory #legacy #familywealth #generationalwealth #uhnw #mfo

Despite the enormous amount of work that PPP does and the unique gap they fill, from June 30 PPP will be a 100% unfunded organisation. PPP support parents with Intellectual Disability to have the same opportunities as parents without disability to raise their children. PPP make resources and run training to upskill child protection workers and agencies to improve outcomes for families. PPP also run self advocacy & peer support groups for parents. PPP cannot continue this work without funding. PPP asks Minister Amanda Rishworth and Minister Bill Shorten to intervene to stop the loss of PPP at a time when supports outside of the NDIS are vital. PPP is Australia's first organisation run by and for parents with Intellectual Disability.
