Update on SEADETECT System Installation 🚢🌊 We're pleased to announce the successful installation of our system on the Découverte du Vivant vessel by NEXVISION SAS. The initial setup included the panoramic camera and the eVPU computer, which have already undergone a first navigation to validate system functionality and user ergonomics. The data collected will be used to train our AI-based cetacean detection algorithms. In an era where proximity operations to uncooperative objects are on the rise, our paper addresses the pressing need for advanced technology to tackle the challenges of in-orbit servicing and removal missions. The new paper by Giacomo Borelli, Gabriella Gaias and Camilla Colombo tackled the challenges of controlling an uncooperative target rotational motion with a contactless method for a future capture. Specifically, novel guidance and control strategies during the contactless operations of plume impingement to stabilise the target are developed. The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) officially designated the hybrid-electric uncrewed aircraft system (UAS) developed under its Series Hybrid Electric Propulsion AiRcraft Demonstration (SHEPARD) program as the XRQ-73, the agency announced in a statement. The SHEPARD program, an "X-prime" initiative, incorporates series hybrid electric architecture and various technologies from the earlier AFRL/IARPA Great Horned Owl project. This approach is designed to mitigate system-level integration risks and accelerate the maturation of long-endurance aircraft designs suitable for rapid field deployment, the agency says. https://lnkd.in/eMfngjEY
