Over the past few decades, the application of DNA fingerprints has revolutionized fields such as forensic and paternity testing as well as genetic studies. This is a quite useful technique which makes it possible to repurpose a person with no identifiable characteristics through his genetic constitution - which provides a tremendous application in the fields of medicine and law enforcement. But that’s only the tip of the iceberg! Evolving concepts of genomics serves to enhance the understanding of health and illness. CRISPR technology or Gene Sequencing, for that matter, is already enabling a more profound insight into genetic variations with their consequences than it has ever been before. Pretty sure Microsoft Excel autoformat is some attempt by future mankind to make sure AI doesn’t take over. 😆 In all seriousness all genomics researchers know those infamous gene names like: SEPT8 DEC1 MARCH3 Still are likely causing chaos despite Human Gene Name Consortiums best efforts to curb Excel-driven wildness. (A follow up from 2004 original article, is this 2021 article link of effects of Excel on published genomics articles https://lnkd.in/geEkpCsX).
