Brilliant economist Trevon Logan explains why the “efficiency” of the Antebellum South is very different when one incorporates the “quasi-labor” costs instead of the traditional method of purely focusing on the slave owner perspective. This then should require us to rethink how we view current market outcomes, including inequality.
