When educational facilities leverage AI for data collection, it typically aims to enhance operational efficiency, improve learning experience personalization, or boost students’ engagement. 🧑🎓 However, one other AI application area is often overlooked by educational facilities: teachers’ performance assessment. 👩🏫 And that’s unfortunate because, as it has been proved in practice, Artificial Intelligence is extremely helpful when it comes to teachers’ professional development and performance evaluation. Light IT Global recently helped an EU-based Edtech provider develop an AI-driven data collection solution that gathers and analyzes different types of valuable information like attendance, grades, academic progress, student and staff surveys, assembles comprehensive reports, and creates personalized development plans for the teachers. The tool has already been adopted by 100+ schools in the Netherlands and has had a positive impact on the teachers’ productivity and engagement. Curious about the details? At Subject, we're constantly exploring ways to leverage AI to better serve our students and teachers. Most recently, AI has revolutionized the creation of learning resources, allowing us to produce high-quality support tools more efficiently than ever before. By harnessing AI technology, we've managed to cut the cost of creating those tools by a staggering 90%. These savings have in turn enabled us to expand our offerings. For example, we've introduced additional in-course scaffolds for students, some of which allow students to more thoroughly participate in their learning process while watching lectures or videos. The process of creating these resources used to be time-consuming and costly. With AI-powered solutions, supported by our amazing education team, we can now generate comprehensive documents in just 90 seconds, with a significant reduction in cost. This breakthrough allows us to deliver high-quality support tools to our students more quickly than ever. We're also exploring how AI can enhance personalized tutor support for students. For example, we're piloting voice-initiated AI chatbots that provide real-time responses with a human-like voice. These chatbots offer students the opportunity to receive on-demand assistance in a controlled environment, so they don’t have to wait to get the help they need. Ultimately, our approach to experimentation with AI is focused on safely testing new ideas to accelerate and deepen the value we bring to students. By constantly pushing the boundaries of technology and innovation, we're committed to providing the most effective and engaging learning experiences for every student and teacher.

How I beat: “I don’t know where to start with AI in my school” I call it the 'Strategic AI Integration' method for K-12 schools. Each step focuses on: Understanding → builds a strong foundation Planning → provides a clear direction Action → drives measurable results Here’s a practical AI roadmap framework for schools: Start with understanding AI capabilities ↳ (What AI can do for your school) Break down AI capabilities into simple terms for educators. Relate each capability to common educational needs, such as personalized learning, efficient administration, or enhanced student engagement. Identify specific opportunities in your school ↳ (Where AI fits in your context) Identify areas where AI can save time or enhance learning, like automating administrative tasks or providing personalized tutoring. Consider repetitive tasks that could benefit from automation, freeing up teachers to focus on teaching. Align AI with educational objectives ↳ (Make sure it supports your school’s goals) Focus on educational outcomes that matter most, such as improving student performance, reducing dropout rates, or increasing engagement. Prioritize AI projects that have the highest potential impact on students and staff. Design a pilot project ↳ (Test small before going big) Choose a manageable, high-impact use case, like an AI tool for grading or personalized learning software. Set clear metrics for success, such as improved grades or reduced administrative hours, and monitor them closely. De-risk implementation ↳ (Minimize potential pitfalls) Start with AI tools that augment teachers’ abilities, not replace them. Implement ethical guidelines to ensure data privacy and fairness, especially considering student data. Prepare your staff with comprehensive training and maintain clear communication throughout the process. → Methodical enough to see positive changes. → Flexible enough to adapt as you learn more. Try applying this strategy over the next few months and watch how AI can transform learning and administration in your school! Feel free to reach out if you need more guidance or have questions! 😊

Last week, IBM released a report (linked below) which stated, “AI and automation are poised to become a competitive advantage for education platforms and systems.” I mean, way to point out the obvious! I think in the past few weeks I have seen two product announcements from some of the biggest platform providers out there, three or four job posts looking for PMs/developers who have experience integrating LLMs into learning products, and personally had multiple conversations about how people are using AI to augment their Edtech products. One note for you all to consider if you’re thinking of building or buying one of these products: I am seeing a bit of a divergence in the integration approach taken. If you can’t augment the LLM’s output with your organisation’s documents, data, or content, it’s going to create a massive disparity in the quality of any content you create. Imagine asking an Instructional Designer to build a course without talking to an SME, or creating a user guide without access to the software, or teaching someone to drive without any experience yourself! How do you know if a tool allows this? You can ask the provider if their product allows training of a custom corpus, or utilises retrieval-augmented generation, you could just ask me and I might be able to tell you. https://lnkd.in/e4nqp6tf #ai #llm #learninganddevelopment

Did You Know? AI is the Classroom Sidekick You Didn’t Know You Needed! Imagine this: You’re teaching a lesson, and somewhere in the back row, little Jamie just can’t wrap his head around fractions. But instead of spotting this weeks (or months!) later, AI swoops in like a superhero, raising its digital hand with, "Psst, Teacher! Jamie’s having trouble with fractions—let’s help him out!" Yes, folks, it’s 2024, and AI can now catch learning gaps faster than you can say “pop quiz”! I wrote an article breaking down how AI can spot these gaps in real-time, helping educators like you intervene before they grow into big, head-scratching problems. Curious to know how it works, what it means for your teaching, and why AI won’t be taking your job anytime soon? (Spoiler alert: it’s here to assist, not replace!) Hop over to the blog to find out how AI is making education smarter, faster, and more personalized than ever – plus, we dive into the ethics of it all because, hey, with great power comes great responsibility, right? 😉 💬 Let’s talk in the comments: Do you think AI is the hero our classrooms need? Or are there still some "powers" it needs to master?
