🔄 Embrace the ideas and behaviours of a Circular & Regenerative Economy 🌱 Why? In today's world, we're rich in man-made capital but poor in natural resources. REALITY CHECK ✔️ The scarcity model has flipped, urging an economic rethink. Traditionally, success meant maximisng GDP (the stuff we make). But that's changed. The real issue isn't producing more 'stuff', but restoring our depleted ecology (industry has used it all up). Now, our focus must shift to our severely depleted natural capital. Transitioning to a circular economy ♻️ means keeping resources in use, both “man-made” and “natural”, while regenerating nature and redistributing these resources evenly. It calls for new business models, shifting from producing more ‘man-made capital’ to giving back to nature and society. This demands precision activism within corporate economics, embracing post-growth models rooted in policy, land stewardship and social reciprocity. The choice being: a planned transition or the collapse of nature and humanity.💚 #LifeChanging #CircularEconomy #RegenerativeEconomy #Sustainability

Beyond Circular: Introducing the Spherical Economy As we strive for sustainability, two concepts stand out: Circular Economy (CE) and Spherical Economy (SE). While CE focuses on regenerative practices within organizations, SE takes a holistic approach to global, interconnected systems. Circular Economy: - Design out waste and pollution - Keep products in use - Regenerate natural systems - Linear-to-circular business models - Product-as-a-service Spherical Economy: - Holistic systems thinking - Integration of social, environmental, and economic factors - Local and global interconnectedness - Global value chains and networks - Digital platforms for collaboration Key differences: - Scope: CE (local) vs SE (global) - Approach: CE (waste reduction) vs SE (systems thinking) - Scale: CE (organizations) vs SE (global challenges) In today's interconnected world, embracing the Spherical Economy can help address global challenges. Let's adopt a broader perspective and strive for inclusive, regenerative growth. https://lnkd.in/dWMP26y2 #SphericalEconomy #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #SystemsThinking #GlobalChallenges

What is the Circular Economy? It is a generic term for an industrial economy that is, by design, restorative and in which component and material flows are of two types: - Biological nutrients, designed to re-enter the biosphere safely; and - Technical nutrients or assets, which are designed to circulate at high quality (without entering the biosphere). A #circulareconomy aims to ‘design out’ waste. Waste does not exist—products are designed and optimised to re-enter the economy whilst maintaining maximum value. The circular economy outlines a set of enabling system conditions and provides a framework for the transformation of the economy through the restoration of eco-system services, shift to renewable energy, elimination of waste and pollution and increased resilience of financial and labour markets. And because this is a fantastic idea, Snowball invested in it! You can watch this short video with the fabulous Jamie Butterworth of Circularity Capital, interviewed by Rebecca Grattage. James explains their strategy and talks about fantastic investments such as Shark Solutions, Bike Club and Grover. 🌿 Transitioning to a Regenerative Economy: Why 'Doing Less Bad' Isn't Enough 🌿 In today's rapidly changing world, it's clear that the traditional linear economy - one that follows the path of 'take, make, use, and dispose' - is no longer sustainable. As we face unprecedented environmental challenges, the call for a shift to a regenerative economy has never been louder or more urgent. A regenerative economy goes beyond simply reducing harm ('doing less bad') to actively enhancing the health of our ecosystems, communities, and economies. It's about creating systems that restore, renew, and revitalize their own sources of energy and materials. 🌱 This transition isn't just about embracing new technologies or making incremental changes to our current practices. It's about fundamentally rethinking how we interact with the natural world and with each other. It's about moving from exploitation to regeneration, from depletion to renewal. Key to this transition is the understanding that everything in our world is interconnected. Our actions have far-reaching impacts, and solving the complex challenges we face requires a holistic, integrated approach. We must consider the long-term impacts of our decisions on environmental, social, and economic systems and seek solutions that benefit all three. The journey toward a regenerative economy is filled with opportunities. From innovative business models that prioritize circularity to policies that support sustainable development and social equity, there are countless ways to contribute to this vital shift. As professionals, we have a unique role to play in this transition. Whether we're in business, government, academia, or the nonprofit sector, we can drive change by embedding regenerative principles into our work and advocating for systemic transformations. Let's come together to reimagine and rebuild our economy, not just to do less harm, but to do unequivocally more good. The time for action is now. 💼🌍 🟢 More content here: https://lnkd.in/djwQ9K4Z #RegenerativeEconomy #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #EnvironmentalInnovation #ClimateAction #SustainableDevelopment #FutureEconomy

Imagine a world where trash cans are a relic of the past, and waste is a distant memory. Welcome to the circular economy, a revolutionary concept that's transforming the way we live, work, and interact with the planet. In this thriving ecosystem, resources are endlessly cycled back into production, and innovation knows no bounds. It's more than reducing our footprint; it's reshaping our economy for a thriving, sustainable society. In this circular utopia, old transforms into new, waste becomes wealth, and innovation thrives. We're not just recycling; we're reinventing our relationship with the planet. It's a revolution inspiring industries, entrepreneurs, and generations. The beauty of the circular economy lies in its power to transform our world. It's guiding us towards a future where sustainability isn't negotiable—it's essential. Together, let's champion sustainable innovation and pave the way for a greener, cleaner tomorrow. #CircularEconomy #SustainableFuture
