"BE ELECTRIFIED" - A Glimpse of the 2024 Frankfurt Exhibition 💥The 2024 Frankfurt exhibition attracted over two thousand exhibitors showcasing their innovative solutions and development trends. Notably, the participation of Chinese exhibitors has significantly increased from 200 in 2022 to nearly 700 this year, representing a third of the total exhibitors. 💥While there were not many new products, linear lights and magnetic suction lights remained highly popular. 💥Larger companies shifted their focus from product displays to showcasing integrated systems. 🔅The product trends emphasized modularity, linearity, compactness, and intelligence, with a focus on energy efficiency, health, and environmental friendliness. 🔅Many lighting fixtures achieved energy savings through intelligent systems, while others improved chip luminous efficacy. With three main agenda themes of "Connectivity", "Sustainability", and "Work+Life", this exhibition attracted over two thousand exhibitors showcasing their innovative solutions and development trends. Notably, the participation of Chinese exhibitors has significantly increased from 200 in 2022 to nearly 700 this year, representing a third of the total exhibitors. The presence of numerous engineering clients was observed, indicating a strong interest from this sector. While there were not many new products, linear lights and magnetic suction lights remained highly popular. Larger companies shifted their focus from product displays to showcasing integrated systems. Three days, 22 speed dating sessions, and countless inspiring conversations with designers, architects, and lighting designers! Jannis Franzen and Sven Claes had the privilege of representing the PROLED GROUP at this year’s Europe darc sessions from May 14-16 in Troia, Portugal. 👉 Here are their key learnings and highlights from the event:  1. Efficiency through focus: By focusing on participants with in-depth expertise of the lighting industry, it was easy to immediately get to the point. We felt that every interaction was valuable and meaningful.   2. Quality over quantity: The caliber of attendees and the event's cost-effectiveness outshined many larger trade shows. The structure and precision were unparalleled, making every moment count.  3. Spotlight on innovation: Our smart tracklight series stole the show! The overwhelmingly positive response and the buzz it generated were very rewarding.   4. Networking: We had the opportunity to connect with key industry players, paving the way for future collaborations and putting us on the radar of the core EU lighting industry. Great lighting design never disappoints. Last week, during my visit to Dutch Design Week, I was reminded of the impact lighting can have. Eindhoven, a city that always connects me to lighting for obvious reasons, did it again. Walking through the exhibition at the Kazerne, I enjoyed the beautifully programmed light ripples (see video), showcasing how lighting can create warmth, comfort, and subtle guidance. It sets the scene, shapes our emotions, and enhances our surroundings in ways we often take for granted. This reminded me why I transitioned into healthcare: to innovate not only with technology, but to enhance the human experience. It’s not only about fundamentally rethinking processes and tech (though they’re crucial), but also about creating environments where employees and patients feel safe, supported, and cared for. Lighting plays a critical, often understated, role in this transformation. Just a personal insight I like to share in regard to that human side of innovation! When Saliot designed the new MS-S3 product, it envisaged a luminaire that would respect the high technical and qualitative value while retaining the remote control features that are the strong point of its commercial proposition. The main objective was to provide the market with a motorised, light, compact, refined and elegant product. To achieve this goal, state-of-the-art mechanisms and electric micromotors produced by parent company Minebea Mitsumi were used. The result was achieved by providing the designers with a versatile and attractive product that blends well into any environment, becoming a perfect tool in the display area. The high quality of the lenses and LEDs used allow the S3 series to be used in the most demanding museum and exhibition installations in general.
