We spend most of our time indoors, yet we rarely think about the impact buildings themselves have on our #wellbeing. Imagine the improvement in our mental and physical health if we could: ♨ heat our homes, schools and hospitals without lowering indoor air quality, 🌊 cool ourselves during heatwaves without breaking the bank, 🌍 protect our climate by reducing the negative environmental impact of buildings. A #roadmap to how to achieve all this and more by 2050 in the new #HealthyBuildingsBarometer by our advisory members BPIE - Buildings Performance Institute Europe 👇 https://lnkd.in/dPUaTeQx

🎉 I'm excited to share that BPIE's #HealthyBuildingsBarometer is out today! 🤓 I read all of our reports (no small feat!) and I have to say I learned a lot, and was deeply inspired. The #health narrative, in my view, is underused in the buildings policy world - but I believe it's one that can convince even the most obstinate of renovation / decarbonisation naysayers. 🏘 The fact is that #buildings can have a huge impact on human mental and physical health and #wellbeing and the socioeconomic benefits can be enormous: 🏢 Renovating public buildings according to specific health criteria brings an average 11.5% return on investment, plus a 30% reduction in climate impact. (But really - read the report for many more stats on the potential socioeconomic benefits of prioritising health in buildings, can't list them all in a Linkedin post!). And - this is the ❗ first piece of work ❗ that provides: 1️⃣ a clear framework that defines what a healthy building should look like 2️⃣ a clear vision of a future where are all buildings are healthy, and 3️⃣ an actionable roadmap starting from now until 2050. Bravo to my brilliant colleagues at BPIE - Buildings Performance Institute Europe who worked tirelessly on pulling this off, and VELUX for their support and trust. Caroline Duvier Dr. Sheikh Zuhaib Essam Elnagar Paraskevi Vivian Dorizas Oliver Rapf Mariangiola Fabbri Scott Magalich Julie Kjestrup Elisabeth Hoffmann Fleming Voetmann. 🍾 Tonight - we celebrate!

Hey colleagues and friends! Check out my article, “Why Wellness is the Asset of the Future,” where I explore how the built environment affects the wellness of its users and how we, as future developers, can proactively create positive change. It’s a topic that fascinates me personally—especially as I’ve been diving into neuroscience, examining how physical spaces influence both our mind and body. In a time where mental health challenges and the spread of viruses are on the rise, focusing on wellness in design and building might be one of the key solutions for the future.
Why Wellness is the Asset of the Future Explore how wellness real estate is transforming the built environment by integrating health-focused design, technology, and sustainability into residential and commercial properties, enhancing the well-being of occupants.
