The most expensive thing in Japan is transport, of course. One round trip flight will cost about 800 euros per person. That's if you're lucky. Moving within the country is also very expensive. Those famous Shinkansen high-speed trains are a luxury that not everyone can afford. But there is good news. You can always save money by choosing a simpler train, finding cheap flights on domestic airlines, or not leaving the city at all. Although the last is strictly not recommended. There is also an excellent option for foreigners - buy a JR wide pass. This is a kind of ticket which valid for several days for JP trains in one area of the country. So, by purchasing the JR TOKYO Wide Pass, you can visit a huge number of famous places outside the city. For example, take a walk in Nikko National Park, visit the birthplace of Daruma, admire Fuji from the shore of Eagle Island, and even get to my beloved Shimoda. #Japan #Nippon #japantrips #tokyophotography #natakorsky #korenovskaia #travelphoto #BigInJapan

11 months of Parklander 🗓 I never expected to be making a TCG inspired by Japan's national parks. It's been a whirlwind of challenges and triumphs so far, but I'm so glad I have it all documented. My notebooks are my treasures - an unfiltered window into my mind. There's some really weird stuff in my mind apparently 😂 🔈 Turn up the volume for some satisfying page-flipping sounds. _________________________________ I help brands & destinations to attract inbound and domestic tourists in Japan. Just got back from a whirlwind trip to Japan, and let me tell you, they're doing some things incredibly well! Now, disclaimer: this was a short vacation, not a deep cultural immersion. But coming from New Zealand, a few things really stood out. 1. Public Transport: Let's be honest, New Zealand's public transport system needs some TLC. Here's the shocker: Tokyo, with a population 7 times ours, boasts a network that's faster, cheaper, and easier to navigate. We explored the entire city using just two train transfers at most, with any destination a 500-meter walk from a station. 2. Foodie Paradise: Beyond the incredible flavors, Japanese food is surprisingly affordable and accessible. Instead of a handful of fancy, reservation-only restaurants, you'll find thousands of charming smaller eateries. 3. Infrastructure thought out: Here's a prime example: we took a bullet train (Shinkansen) for a ski trip. What would normally be an 8-hour drive became a smooth 2-hour journey. The train pulled right into the ski resort base, where you could buy tickets, rent gear, and hop straight onto the gondola. No more battling windy mountain roads – pure efficiency! If you haven't explored Japan yet, add it to your bucket list! For my fellow New Zealanders, there's a lot we can learn from their approach. Their focus on efficiency and accessibility is truly inspiring.
