I pick up the same (good and sustainable!) vibes each time. The Award creates a unique moment of community for circular economy stakeholders: startups and established companies, lawmakers and academics, crowd-funding specialists and journalists – everyone at the event is committed to a more sustainable future. The final is always in Berlin, and the flavour is always international. I’ve witnessed pitches from outstanding winners – from Estonia, Finland, Germany, Ukraine and the UK – and they’ve fought off pitches from equally impressive runners-up. Maybe once, I was able to say with certainty: they are going to win. The tension is palpable, from the moment the doors open until the winner is announced. And the conversation is about all things circular… and continues long into the night!
