I stumbled upon a gem- a video from a sales conference in New Orleans. One memorable night, despite the rain, we created a magical experience as a live jazz band led a second-line procession to Preservation Hall. 💡 Entertainment is essential to your sales conference. It unites the event, creates shared memories, strengthens connections, and leaves a lasting impression. Here’s how to make your entertainment unforgettable: 1. Match the Entertainment to the Location Your conference’s destination is part of the story you’re telling. In New Orleans, it made sense to bring in local jazz bands. For a Nashville event? Think country music or honky-tonk vibes. 2. Focus on Energy Entertainment is about movement—both physical and emotional. A great band gets people out of their chairs, but it also energizes conversations. Whether it’s a band, comedian, or cultural performance, ensure it resonates with your audience and encourages participation. 3. Consider Timing Entertainment at a sales conference isn’t just about “fun.” It serves a strategic purpose. A high-energy band on the first night might break the ice and build momentum. 4. Rain or Shine, Keep the Spirit Alive The weather tried to rain on our parade in New Orleans—literally. But here’s the thing: the unexpected can turn into the unforgettable when you lean into it. Attendees loved how we embraced the moment, umbrellas and all. So, the next time you’re planning a sales conference, don’t just book a band—curate an experience. 🌟 🎤 What’s the best entertainment moment you’ve experienced at a conference or event? Drop it in the comments—I’d love to hear your stories! 👇 #EventPlanning #SalesConferences #EventEntertainment #NewOrleansVibes #EventProfs

What confuses you the most at live events? Where to park? How to get to your seats? What time to get there? Where to find food? How to find your tickets? Other things?

JLo cancelled her tour, as you probably know, because tickets weren't selling well at all. I want to use this as a great illustration of pricing and the power that it has to determine the success of a live event. This tour was not priced correctly. It was priced on the assumption or perhaps wish that JLo is a very hot property on the live market. The list of "very hot" acts is "very short." It's possible JLo and her team had a touch of Taylor-envy. If she can do a billion dollar tour, why can't I? So they went for a high price structure in large venues, mostly arenas. If this had been theatres or amphitheaters, with capacities more like 5000, perhaps it would have worked. Or if the prices had been lower. Or a combination of both. I don't know enough about her audience and popularity to know if there's a winning combination of price and venue. There usually IS one. I do know enough about marketing live events to have known that THIS combination of price, promotion and venue would not work. Everybody, even big stars, need help getting out of their own heads about what they "should" be selling and at what price. https://lnkd.in/gfTApZRn

While updating all those spreadsheets, checking and double-checking the details until your brain hurts, do you ever think there must be a better way to plan events and festivals? Do you ever wonder if other planners are doing the same thing or have a better way: Do they know something you don't? What you are feeling is FOBO - fear of better operations.
