🟢 Take care of your overall wellbeing. A positive work, life and training balance is crucial to sustainable success, happiness and continuous growth. Too many of us sacrifice too many of the wrong things for instant external gratification from social media or other means, which really doesn’t matter. The older we get the more we understand that the important things in life that really matter are family, inner peace and our own happiness. Yet too many of us are still stuck in this cycle of thinking that being in great shape ‘by any means necessary’ will get us there. Whilst I am a firm advocate of getting in the best shape you possibly can, I also preach that if you do not give other areas of life the attention they deserve, being in the shape of your life can leave you feeling isolated and worse than before. WHY? The reality is that nobody cares about your six pack, your sub 12% bodyfat or your new gym outfit, but you. What people care about is how you treat them, how you make them feel when around you and the type of person you are. I speak from experience and have isolated many, sacrificing way beyond what was needed to reach my goals. It may be commendable by some. However, a smarter, better and more mature way of doing things is by achieving BALANCE. ✅ Remind yourself that what you do in the gym is a choice. You don’t need to be moody whilst dieting and expect people around you to understand. ✅ Take time off away from the gym and spend it with loved ones. ✅ Be thankful for having the privilege to be able to do what you do. It is a privilege! ✅ Balance your working life with your fitness goals to minimise stress and getting frustrated. ✅ Take time away from the gym for yourself and pick up a new hobby. ✅ We are creatures of social interaction. Don’t be a hermit and lock yourself away in the gym in all your spare time. Get out from time to time. If you can find ways to better balance your day job, lifestyle and fitness, you will feel far happier within yourself. Being physically fit is only one aspect of wellbeing. 🎆 Wellness Wednesday: Tips for a Balanced and Happy 4th of July 🎆 As we approach the 4th of July holiday, it’s a perfect time to reflect on managing stress and fostering healthy work relationships. Here are my own tips, taken from personal experience: 1. Set Boundaries: Establishing clear work hours is crucial to prevent burnout. Respecting these boundaries has enhanced my productivity and personal well-being. This helps in striking a balance between work and personal life, making time for both responsibilities and relaxation. 2. Communicate Effectively: Open and honest communication is key to resolving conflicts and building trust. Regular check-ins and transparent dialogue with clients and colleagues significantly improve work relationships. Listening actively and providing constructive feedback can foster a positive work environment. 3. Prioritize Self-Care: Regular exercise, proper nutrition, and sufficient sleep are essential for maintaining high performance. Incorporate physical activities and mindfulness into your routine, especially during high-stress periods. Simple habits like walking, getting outside, or even a brief stretch can make a huge difference. 4. Seek Support: Building a support network has been instrumental in navigating challenging times in my consulting career. Don’t hesitate to reach out to colleagues or friends when needed. Sharing your experiences and challenges can lighten the load and provide new perspectives. 5. Enjoy the Moment: The 4th of July is a great reminder to take a break and enjoy the moment. Spend time with loved ones, indulge in your favorite activities, eat lots of food, recharge, and enjoy our freedoms. And don't forget to try and catch some fireworks while you're at it! 🎇 As we celebrate Independence Day, let’s also celebrate our commitment to well-being.
