Several people have come up to me and said, "I love your mom," and it catches me off guard because they’ve never met my mom, but then I think, "Oh yeah, the podcast." My mom passed away on October 31, 2022, and I was baffled by why she chose Halloween to leave this earthly world. "According to Native American philosophy, the time between Halloween (October 31st) and All Souls Day (November 1st) is the time of year when the 'veil between the two worlds is the thinnest.' It is the time when the spirit world is closest and most connected to our physical world here on Earth." All mothers are special in their own way because at the simplest level, they brought us into the world. I feel my mother is very special because she was everyone's mom and she carried a lot of wisdom. As Mother's Day is approaching, I would like to honour my mother and all mothers through four essential questions that I share this week: Celebrating Mothers: A Tribute To My Mom and Her Life Lessons, Episode 65. 1. What is the most important advice your mom gave you? 2. What are your first memories of your mother? 3. What family habits or traditions come from your mother's side? 4. What are your overall favourite memories of your mother? Share these questions with your family and take the time to notice and honour the influence our mothers have had in shaping who we are today, despite any challenges they might have brought into our lives.

Appreciate freely, without holding back. It doesn’t always have to be for something monumental. Acknowledge even the small gestures, like when a colleague holds the lift doors open while your hands are full of files. These everyday moments deserve more than just a quick "thank you." Go beyond words. Your simple #appreciation can change someone’s mindset, uplifting them in ways you can’t imagine. For example, a simple appreciation email from a student brought a smile and a sense of fulfillment to a teacher's life. That small act of #gratitude, without any expectation, inspired many when shared on an episode of "The Oprah Show" (https://lnkd.in/guR_7G5y). Appreciation can do wonders - - They can elevate someone's spirit: Your kind words could make their day and boost their confidence. - Create a ripple effect: When people feel valued, they’re more likely to spread kindness, passing it on to others. Be the first to appreciate it. You never know how your words could change someone’s life, or even inspire them to change the world. Thank you, Rajkumar Tennyson, your appreciation inspired me to write this post. P.S. The video snippet from "The #Oprah Show" will indeed make your day, filling it with a sense of gratitude that comes from true appreciation. Keep spreading those #positive_vibes!

Let's talk candidly, openly and honestly about family member caregivers. #eldercare #cargiving Let's talk about choice #MAID #Medicalaidindying #Deathwithdignity #terminalillness and who's choice really matters. Let's talk about how I learned to respect others choices and support those choices, despite how difficult it was for me. #WTFjusthappened is a very direct podcast. The name alone screams entertaining in the most direct form. This was such a fun interview. There is dark and heavy and there is direct and light. We mixed it up in this one. *** Note: WTF is exactly what it is. We are direct, we talk about controversial situations and we lighten situations that are often seen as dark. There were a few IT blips in this interview. And it's long, but it has proven itself worthy of the watch. I've already received a lot of feedback (positive and negative). My interviews are across the board. I have been interviewed by a multitude of podcasts and other public media figures. Not all are as fun and informal as this. But, all have been equally as important. https://lnkd.in/gknizEiJ https://lnkd.in/gcFRSJC5 #melrobbins is an extremely talented motivational speaker. When I start to become discouraged, I watch her interviews. Between this and the amazing folks who are helping me grow my story, I will change the way we care for our elderly and terminally ill loved ones.

In the church world, we often find ourselves falling into the "gap instinct". This is our tendency to categorize the world into black and white, us versus them, which can drastically distort our understanding of reality and affect our ministries. As presented by Hans Rosling in his book "Factfulness", the gap instinct is one of the ten cognitive biases that lead us to make inaccurate assumptions and even cause misunderstandings. It forces us into a perspective that lacks nuance and fails to appreciate the vast middle ground that typically exists between extremes. In the church context, this means overlooking individuality, stereotyping, and prematurely prejudging people based on superficial differences, often resulting in a sense of complacency or superiority. To counter this, we need to challenge our assumptions, learn from diverse perspectives and actively seek to understand others' unique stories. We should then build bridges, fostering community and inclusivity, rather than walls that divide. Join us in understanding the gap instinct, its impact, and ways to overcome it, leading to healthier, more vibrant, and impactful ministries. Listen to the full insightful episode [here](

One of the reasons I love podcasting is that it's an effective way to share personal stories. This article summarizes Ep. 4 of Abandoned Daughters of Caribbean Moms Podcast. It's a look into how our identity is not only shaped by the people in our lives but also by the people who are missing from our lives. I'm enjoying this new project but it's also quite therapeutic. #personalstories #identity #abandondeddaughters
