You're about to witness the birth of a new digital dimension. But are you ready for the consequences? Samsung's upcoming XR headset isn't just another gadget—it's a gateway to a world where reality and virtuality blur. Imagine a future where your smartphone becomes a window into augmented experiences, shared with friends wearing smart glasses. It's closer than you think. This technology promises to revolutionise how we work, play, and interact. But it also raises questions about privacy, addiction, and the nature of reality itself. As we stand on the brink of this XR revolution, we must ask ourselves: → Are we prepared for a world where digital and physical realities constantly intersect? → How will this change our relationships, our work, and our perception of the world? → What safeguards do we need to ensure this technology enriches rather than dominates our lives? The future is knocking. How will you answer? #XRRevolution #DigitalEthics #TechFuturists

🌟Product Snippet #7 - ARx Headset🌟 During my visit to #CSAN2024, ARx Headset caught my attention as a new wearable device for people who are visually impaired. ARx Headset by ARxVision does not only provide audio updates but also visually interprets the world around you. You can ask it questions about your suurounding, and it can even interpret works of art (which is a challenge on its own). Shaped for comfort and privacy, this headset fits snugly around your ears and the back of your head, delivering audio via bone conduction speakers. ARx looks like a bone conducting headset similar to, for example, the Aftershocks headset. It has a small rectangular box with 3 large tectile buttons and a front facing camera on the right hand side. It is conected by a wire to a smarphone. The phone is used as a controller and you can also use the tectile buttons on the headset. It is competible with the Arx app as well as Microsoft Seeing AI and the NaviLens App. ARx is in partbership with RNIB. While currently only compatible with Android devices, the team behind ARx Headset is working tirelessly to expand its reach. Charles Leclercq, the Founder of Arx Vision kindly gave me a full demo of the device at CSUN. We walked around the lobby of the convention, reading signs and displays, getting descriptions of the surrounding and even discussing an abstract work of art. A side note of thank you goes to Audible Sight for offering an easy-to-use platform for adding audio descriptions. Let's celebrate innovation and embrace the possibilities offered by ARx Headset and other groundbreaking technologies showcased at #CSAN2024. Together, let's pave the way for a more inclusive and accessible future. 🌐 #assitiveTech, #innovation, #bvi Dave Williams John Harrington Ken Rybarczyk

Qualcomm, Samsung, and Google's latest project—a pair of mixed-reality smart glasses connected to smartphones—marks a major leap for XR technology, particularly in education and training. By offloading processing and battery needs to smartphones, these glasses promise lightweight, affordable solutions for immersive learning experiences. This shift from bulky headsets to compact, practical wearables will accelerate XR adoption in classrooms and training environments, making it easier to integrate interactive simulations, virtual field trips, and hands-on training without the discomfort or high costs of traditional devices. As XR becomes more accessible, expect it to transform how we learn and develop skills. https://lnkd.in/gMdGdXUe #XR #Education #Training #SmartGlasses #ImmersiveLearning #EdTech

Many vendors are trying to claim a stake in this seemingly prosperous AR smart glasses market. In 2024, Meta made its commitment clear by highlighting its related success via its EssilorLuxottica partnership, and on the other hand, Samsung spent the year teasing audiences with an XR device to rival Meta’s and others, while the device is still yet to hit the market, Samsung appears ready to debut the product in 2025. On the other hand, it is essential to note that firms such as XREAL, Vuzix, and ReoNeo are working to create smart glasses that are ready for broad consumer use cases.

Was Google way ahead of its time with Google Glass? Google Glass, launched in 2014 - was a revolutionary concept – wearable smart glasses offering voice commands, a heads-up display and a built-in camera. It felt like something straight out of science fiction! However, despite the innovative features, Google Glass ended up being a commercial flop. But why? VR and AR technology were still in their early stages, making Glass seem clunky and impractical. The apps and features were limited, not offering a compelling reason to wear Glass over a smartphone. The built-in camera raised concerns about people recording others discreetly. The "Glasshole" stereotype emerged, associating wearers with being rude and intrusive. Despite its failure, Google Glass paved the way for future advancements in wearable technology. It showed the potential for seamless integration of information into our daily lives. Today, VR headsets dominate the immersive experience space. However, smart glasses might be better suited for the future of mixed reality. Perhaps Google Glass was simply too early. With advancements in technology and a growing understanding of user needs, smart glasses might become the ideal platform for mixed reality experiences. While Google discontinued the consumer version of Glass in 2015, they haven't completely abandoned the concept. They offer Google Glass Enterprise Edition, a version specifically designed for industrial applications to assist workers with tasks like maintenance and repair. Google is reportedly making another attempt at smart glasses, aiming to rival Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses by integrating its AI, Gemini. Reports indicate that Google has approached EssilorLuxottica, the maker of Ray-Ban Meta glasses, for this new project.
