Human-to-Human outreach isn't easy. So I want to do a shoutout to someone who did it pretty well yesterday. Carolina Courville from HubSpot reached out to me. She took the time to view my website and LinkedIn profile. She acknowledged that I talk about how spammy outreach is ineffective and asked a question about our business. To be honest, it was a mild pitch. But it was well-personalized, so I responded. (it definitely was not automated or a template) When I replied that we're not interested, she came back using more of her research (nuggets). She mentioned the technology we're using based on tracking code that appears on our website. She tied that to a benefit of her product. I'm not looking to change marketing automation and explained why. Yes, it was a pitch, and no, I'm not going to buy. Almost everything crowding my inbox is automated spam. I very rarely receive messages like this. So it seems worthwhile to give props when I see people genuinely using human-to-human approaches as part of their sales outreach.
