I've always thought about starting a "Using Common Sense In Order to Thrive" course. I do believe in 2025, there needs to be a return in using Common Sense to ultimately make your decisions and the way you ultimately treat a friend or a client, perhaps. I recently started a hash tag #CommonSenseCrusade. Hope others will use and join in. It's needed more than ever before!

In 2025, people will push back against overusing AI, favoring authenticity over mass-produced content. Audiences are growing tired of shallow, AI-generated posts, even on platforms like LinkedIn. The focus will shift to creators who use AI as a collaborative tool to enhance, not replace, their unique perspectives. Meanwhile, AR and VR will rise, offering immersive experiences that blend technology with authenticity, redefining how we engage across industries. The future will be about balancing innovation with genuine human connection.

IMO these are not big ideas. All of this stuff has been done, and in many cases failed. People are weird and they always go back to basic's in the end. Working at Shopify, we did social shopping with Buzzfeed and Meta - and it just never took off for various reasons. Maybe people can try it again, now that we have more APIs ... but this is not a new concept nor a "big idea". AI and health - go talk to Noom. See how they're doing these days 😜 (Suddenly I have this overwhelming urge to hum the Ozempic song) Or ask people why they WANT TO BUY an Apple Watch. Ask that same person 2 months later what they're actually using said Apple Watch for ... really. They will say - "meh not much" Sparkling coffee?! Give me a break. People drink coffee because it's a ritual. Rituals find comfortable in the familiar. Again, not a big idea. Trust that "new" takes on food/bev have been going on for decades. The coffee we drink is largely the same cup of joe served up in 1970. Break me off a piece of KitKat and we can chat some more. .... and I could go on and on. Do better LinkedIn.

It is time for rural higher education faculty to take on classes that use AI for entrepreneurship because it enhances efficiency and productivity, enables data-driven decision-making, delivers personalized customer experiences, supports scalability, drives innovation, provides a competitive edge, and solves complex problems. I am also working with smaller colleges in West Virginia focusing in this area, and we hope to form the Consortium comprised of higher education entrepreneurship faculty and students statewide who are changing the mindset of what is possible. We will be working with the #ELC out of Pennsylvania and Ohio. Just as important, it will give the #Appalachian area an economic advantage in the areas of crafts, arts (see #KevinOLeary’s comments) and #ruralhealth (see #AriannaHuffington’s comments). #Welcome2025

My big idea for 2025 is to focus on loving and engaging with your immediate neighbors. Building stronger relationships with those near you can profoundly impact your well-being and neighborhood. Our fast-paced digital world has disconnected us from those who live next door. However, fostering strong connections with neighbors allows personal growth and can help create a more cohesive, supportive, and friendly environment where you live. It also increases your sense of belonging. Start the year with these simple resolutions: 1. Introduce yourself to your neighbors if you haven’t already. Learn their names and find ways to remember and use their names regularly. 2. Invite neighbors over for a simple and small gathering. It doesn’t have to be extravagant—just an opportunity to chat and beverages. 3. Perform an act of kindness for your neighbor. A simple gesture that helps someone and encourages others to do the same. By making a resolution to invest in your relationships with your neighbors, you’re enriching your own life and contributing to a sense of security, warmth, and unity within your community. #BigIdeas2025

The use of AI will increase the need for adjustment of contracts and policies to address its use, so that AI risks are addressed and stakeholders' interests are taken into account. AI is a tool which requires oversight and training, if your service providers of vendors are using AI without considering risks or implementing training for their team, that is a red flag. #BigIdeas2025

#BigIdeas2025 from my perspective will be around Redefining Success and How Holistic Leadership Will Transform the Workplace in 2025 As we head into 2025, the pace of change is faster than ever. Leaders are navigating AI advancements, hybrid teams, and economic uncertainty—all while managing their own emotional well-being. But here’s the clincher: success is being redefined. In 2025, leadership isn’t just about hitting KPIs or driving innovation. It’s about showing up as an authentic, balanced, and emotionally resilient leader. This shift toward holistic leadership will reshape how organizations support their people and achieve sustainable growth. 💡 Imagine leaders using mindfulness to foster clarity in decision-making. 💡 Picture team cultures built on trust, emotional intelligence, and purpose. 💡 Visualize workplaces where emotional wellness is prioritized alongside performance metrics. Through tools like EFT tapping, mindset coaching, and spiritual principles, leaders can overcome stress, burnout, and impostor syndrome—unlocking greater confidence and deeper connections with their teams. The result? Transformative workplaces where success isn’t about doing more but leading with balance and impact.

I believe virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) will play a huge role in 2025, particularly in customer experience and remote work. As these technologies become more accessible, we’ll see more businesses offering immersive experiences for everything from virtual storefronts to remote team collaboration spaces. Imagine being able to attend a meeting in a virtual office, or shopping in a fully interactive VR store, all from the comfort of your home. On the creative side, I also see AI-driven content creation becoming even more sophisticated. AI tools will assist content creators in ways we haven’t even imagined yet—helping us create personalized, high-quality content faster than ever before. The creative possibilities are endless!
