My social media theme for October is #Philanthropy. This week is #NationalEstatePlanningAwarenessWeek. For many individuals, wading into the process of estate planning can feel daunting—the U.S. tax code is complex and there are a myriad of strategies to choose from; how do you determine which is the right fit? The process may be simplified by breaking estate planning into three phases and creating a roadmap through each phase with well tested estate planning tools and techniques. Check out the article linked below for more information, and feel free to reach out to see how we may be able to work together. #EstatePlanning #FinancialRoadmap #FamilyWealthDirector Visit my website: https://lnkd.in/dJ5VXNF _____

The very act of taking rest is a revolutionary act. Queer Black Poet Audre Lorde states, “Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.” There is great risk in not taking necessary rest. Chronic stress can spike cortisol levels and put us at risk of anxiety, depression, a lowered immune system, cognitive issues, heart problems, and gut issues (National Institute of Mental Health). Rest and connection regulate cortisol levels and reduce anxiety. Rather than being self-indulgent, rest and connection serve to heal the body by regulating cortisol levels and reducing anxiety. Come join us in J.O.Y. for the body and spirit!

#ICYMI HRFN’s report explores the “trust gap” in human rights philanthropy—significant disparities in funding for groups in the Global South and East as compared to groups in the Global North. The report finds the trust gap across a range of funding decisions and practices: ➡️ from where organizations are based that are funded to lead human rights work, ➡️ to the size of the grants they receive, ➡️ to the extent of flexibility they have to decide how to use the funding. 🔗Dig into the findings of the report:https://bit.ly/3rBEDfi #AdvancingHumanRights #HumanRightsFunding #BetterFundingData #TrustGapReport #Philanthropy #HumanRights #Data #Funding

❝While we may have dodged the bullet of anti-democratic thinking for now, it will only have been the chronical of a death foretold if we don’t renew trust and strengthen the social contract at the heart of democracy.❞ As trust in political institutions teeters on the edge and the Sustainable Development Goals seem to slip beyond our reach, what role can philanthropy play in reinvigorating our outdated social contract? Indeed, if policymakers can partner with the philanthropic sector, it could be the catalyst needed to bring about a Renewed Social Contract. But, in tandem with increased governmental engagement, the sector must undergo self-transformation. Delphine Moralis, Chief Executive Officer at Philea - Philanthropy Europe Association, offers her unique expertise and insight in this Critical Thinking article examining philanthropy’s potential to be a changemaker. ⤵ Read more below. #CriticalThinking #RenewedSocialContract #Philanthropy
