This months poll from TruckersNews.com is about Truck Driver Appreciation! Starting next week, Truck Driver Appreciation Week is a time to celebrate America's truckers, and Lionzone is starting early with a quick look at how truck drivers view some of the traditional appreciation gifts! 50% of truck drivers love when their companies give them gift cards for Truck Driver Appreciation Week. 14% of drivers receive swag gifts and appreciate them! 9% of drivers like getting prizes for Truck Driver Appreciation Week. 8% of drivers like receiving gifts of food, and, honestly, who doesn't? 20% of drivers chose the "Other" option, but, since there are no descriptions for other, we're not sure what it is those drivers like to receive. Don't forget to show your drivers how important they are to all Americans! https://lnkd.in/ek86UmCy Is your business struggling to retain the drivers you worked so hard to recruit? Your newly hired driver gets assigned a truck. What do they see when they open the driver's door? On day one, many workers experience a warm welcome and a decorated workspace (balloons, a personal note from an executive, nice company swag, etc.). Often overlooked, professional drivers typically start day one with a set of keys, tractor and trailer numbers, and the address of their first pick-up. Squeezed to make a profit, the new-hire driver experience for many trucking companies has reached an all-time low. This AI-generated image may be a bit exaggerated, but the complaints from drivers being assigned filthy trucks have been rising. It should go without saying, but please remember to clean out every tractor before re-assigning it, and as for the condition of the sleeper mattresses, ask yourself, "Would I sleep on that?". You only have one chance to make a first impression, so don't mess it up. Consider stocking the fridge with their favorites, providing a box or bag of driver essentials, and don't forget to include some swag. Nothing boosts recruiting and retention efforts like a great driver experience, and while that starts in recruiting, it is never more important than on the driver's 1st day. Stay tuned! On September 24th, Matthew Gilbert and I will discuss the relationship between driver experience and employer branding. You won't want to miss it! #recruiting #trucking #transportation #retention #driverexperience

It's National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, and I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible men and women who keep our world moving. Truck drivers do the kind of work that many others couldn’t – or wouldn’t – do. They endure long hours on the road, often away from their families, in all kinds of weather and conditions. They navigate the highways while the rest of us sleep, making sure the things we need – from the clothes we wear to the food on our tables – get to where they need to be. **Let’s face it – everything we touch, eat, or use has spent time on a truck at some point.** And yet, truck driving is a job that doesn’t always get the respect it deserves. It’s hard work, mentally and physically. It takes grit, resilience, and humility – qualities that might test the ego of many, but our drivers rise above it every day. To all the truckers out there, your role in our lives is vital. We see you, we appreciate you, and we thank you for all you do. 🙏 #DriverAppreciationWeek #ThankATrucker #TruckDrivers Tropical Shipping

So last night i was thinking about taking a melatonin to get some shut eye as i didn’t get much sleep this week. What was i thinking? Im a logistics professional, sleep is for the faint hearted. We dont play that out here lol Glad I got these calls before i was about to make that stupid decision. Swapped that out with a coffee and got to grindin like a G! First call was from a driver hauling ice cream. Some codes came up and the reefer turned off. Love those ones, keeps the adrenaline rushing and on my A game. For my love for kids and not wanting any ice cream to go to waste. We rang up everyone that could have anything to do with being a mechanic in the state. I was lucky to convince one that hes doing gods work at that hour. Though it took a lot of calls, he came through and saved all the ice cream, could not be more grateful! This excitement doesn’t finish there while i juggling these calls, one of our drivers went MIA! He had to stage 5 trailers at a shipper for storage as they were starting repairs at their facility. The redbull had kicked in hard by this time and mama didnt raise no quitter! I drove straight to the yard and started moving these trailers to their facility not too far from us. By 5:30 these trailers were staged and I could go straight to my office and handle business! Two things really annoyed me doing all this. While dropping the landing gear on one of the trailers i noticed graphiti on the side of the trailer and a pretty ugly piece of art on top of that. Second thing was when i got to the office with all the greace on me, i dirtied a lot if stuff on my table that i prefer stay clean. Lesson i learned here was we need better watch on our parked trailers to prevent such art work and when returning from the field i need to wash my hands no matter how important checking my emails may seem 😂 Still going hard and will keep going hard. We never stop! Now if you waking up early and celebrating are you even trucking lol stay swole gang! #Trucking #Logistics #Freight #Truckingindustry #warehouse #Grind #dontstop #work

Closing out my second week at Paschall Truck Lines, Inc. there are a few things that make it clear this is the right place to be: 1. There’s no price (or salary!) great enough to replace a healthy culture. By supporting both their people and their customers, PTL exemplifies a strong culture every day. It’s not just lip service! 2. Every person here shows up ready to make a difference, day in and day out. That level of dedication is hard to find and even harder to beat. 3. Growth is front and center. We’re investing in new systems, and it feels good to have my experience and perspective valued in such a big way. It’s all about moving forward together. 4. We don’t back down from complex challenges. In fact, we double down and utilize every resource to come through for our partners beyond expectation. What we don’t do is overpromise and underdeliver. If we say we can, we will! 5. Probably my favorite discovery over the past two weeks - Service Excellence simply isn’t negotiable. We’re here to provide the kind of service that creates real trust and lasting partnerships and every person at PTL has skin in the game. I’m beyond proud to be part of a company that exudes southern hospitality and integrity. A place where culture, growth, and commitment truly lead the way. To our current partners, thank you for trusting us. To our future partners, 2025 is on the horizon - Let’s build together. We’re in it for the long haul! In Trucking, Stacy Reinsel Ps. I’m good at a lot of things, photoshop isn’t one of them 😂🤷🏻♀️

Want to know how I used traffic cones to check on my team's mindset towards change??? 🧀 🏃♂️ 🏃♂️ 💨 Earlier this year we began training our team to place cones around their vans when they park for safety and visibility. Surprisingly enough, this was a habit that took some serious effort to instill!! We bought the cones, put it on the checklists, reminded the team in huddles... everything except doing it for them. Excuses like: "They take up too much room in the truck" or "They take too much time to set out" were the immediate response. Around the same time of rolling out this new policy, we read "Who Moved My Cheese" and "QBQ." The goal here was to get the team to understand how to adapt to change and to have some personal accountability in everything they do. So, when I was visiting a job site this week, I saw one our newest tech's truck like this. I saw two beautifully placed cones and that's when I knew!!! Seeing the team embrace change and take their success into their own hands is a really exciting thing to see, even in the little things!! ❓ What are the cones in your business that represent the team moving with the cheese???? 👇 👇

Work was something else today! 🎯 We had a driver's test to run, and let’s just say, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. After all the planning and prep, only 1 out of 11 drivers passed! 🚗💨 It’s crazy how some missed key details that got them disqualified—even though they were certified! It reminded me of the job hunt process. Don’t get stuck on the old ways of doing things. Be open, ask questions, and figure out what the organization really values. 🎯 Then, get yourself ready to market your skills and show you’re the perfect fit! Every company has its own priorities—understand them and switch up your strategy. Next time might be your winning moment! 💪 Thank God it's Friday! Enjoy the weekend, everyone! 🎉 #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment #FridayFeeling #ContinuousLearning #StayAdaptable #NeverStopLearning

Today we were absolutely delighted to acknowledge the achievements of a pair of superstars! Pictured here with our Finance Director Laura, are Kieron Hough and Kegan Brown, our Head Technician and Vehicle Technician respectively. The larger our fleet has grown over the years, the more of an administrative burden has fallen to Kieron to keep track of it all. Never is this more prevalent than this time of year with all the fleet swappovers to coordinate, as last years vehicles come back to be swapped for the new vehicles constantly arriving. There's the triage of mechanical jobs, checklists and other maintenance to organise as well as keeping track of hundreds of vehicles between multiple sites and coordinating their movement in between. Kieron's worked miracles... we're sure he'd prefer to be wielding a spanner, but is mostly finding himself maintaining spreadsheets at the moment and arriving ridiculously early in the mornings just to get things done. He couldn't be more deserving of this recognition. Similarly, Kegan, has just been taking care of business. His workload has increased, his throughput has increased, the pressure has increased, but he's just simply, efficiently and effectively got things done without hesitation or complaint. He says very little, but does so much and it's only right we shout about what he's achieved at one of our busiest times of year. As ever, at Westwood, recognition comes with a trophy and a certificate to allow us to shout a little on our socials and take pride in us having a team that's matchless across the industry. But that's not all. Both Kieron and Kegan, as is our practice, will receive a proper reward - namely a gift voucher of their choice to the value of £250 each. It's only right that we give back when our team give so much of themselves. Well done Gents, your hard work is an inspiration! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #teamwork #hardwork #appreciation #award #staffaward #employeeofthemonth #reward
