Carbon-negative MeOH can play a central role in sustainable chemical manufacturing in the coming years. Electrified processes running on renewable electricity can make this happen. In this work, CO2-based methanol synthesis routes solely based on renewable electricity are conceptually designed and assessed. Specifically, an e-MeOH production route via direct air-captured CO2 and green H2 from water electrolysis is investigated.
