“Emerging Resilience in the Semiconductor Supply Chain,” a new report from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), examines the effects of recent government incentives on investment and production trends around the world. Resilience, they emphasize, “is not synonymous with self-sufficiency.” A truly resilient supply chain needs talent fostered at all levels; sustained policy support; helping new markets develop appropriate conditions for investment; maintaining open trade; and diversifying end markets. 🌎The US is oriented toward new policy approaches in the semiconductors sector, since new risks have been highlighted by recent geopolitical tensions and recent supply chain disruptions. The US strategy revolves around three objectives: 1. Strengthening the domestic industry and manufacturing 2. Using the export control with the aim of denying strategic adversaries of key technology. 3. Securing the supply chains for critical technologies. Despite being already tightly intertwined, further cooperation between the American and the European semiconductors sectors is needed. The U.S. Department of State recently announced a new partnership with the Government of Mexico to explore opportunities to grow and diversify the global semiconductor ecosystem under the International Technology Security and Innovation (ITSI) Fund, created by the CHIPS Act of 2022. The partnership aims to help create a more resilient, secure, and sustainable global semiconductor value chain - and this is what we need to secure across Americas, involving different countries in Latin America and the Caribbean region, to leverage and play their strengths contributing to a more secure and resilient end-to-end semiconductor supply chain in the region. The first step is to identify and promote talent workforce, map regulatory compliance and gaps, leverage infrastructure and create a value added supply chain considering the vast ecosystem already established in the Americas. The next few years will be critical to keep this agenda and focus, adjusting and executing the plan and implementing the policy framework to sustain the initiative. Together the region will be much more powerful than trying to play it individually. https://lnkd.in/ebpG4m_f

#IndustryOutlook An industry leader is confident the Philippine semiconductor sector will bounce back in 2025 after lower output in the last two years due to global headwinds. SEIPI’s Dan Lachica tells #ANCMarketEdge they're also bullish of growth due to a focus put by the Marcos Jr. administration on the industry. 🔗 Watch the full interview on Prestige: https://lnkd.in/gAfihDAC For more news and updates, follow #ANConLinkedIn
