WHAT DOES IT REALLY TAKE TO BE A QUALITY MANAGER? 🌎 A degree in food sciences or microbiology is the general course if action to step into the world of food safety ✔️ If you want to pursue a more senior position, a Master's degree is generally preferred 🔥 Progression Chart: Receiving Inspector- Quality Inspector l - Quality Inspector ll - Quality Inspector lll - Quality Engineer - Senior Quality Engineer - Quality Manager - Director of Quality 🔥 🌎 5 - 10yrs of climbing through the ranks will eventually lead to a very comfortable & nicely compensated position of QA director ✔️ This can only happen with strong work ethic, incredible educational credentials & a solid work history ✔️ 🔥 A person who is job hopping every 1-2yrs in organizations isn't going to make it ✅️ Let me once again be baised, " without the quality professionals, products would crumble" ✔️ ✔️ For the young professionals on this career path, they need to know the expectations & demands facing today's quality professionals. ✍️ First in, last out. These are the general hours of good QA managers. ✍️ They are hands on, always moving, constantly improving machines & surpassing their own intense quality standards. ✍️ They interface with suppliers, certification providers, & customers while preparing for what seems to be the daunting task of yet another audit of some kind. ✅️ Most quality Managers today are working with consulting firms while simultaneously improving their internal teams ✍️ continous improvement for internal auditors & lead auditors doesn't just stop at the latest GFSI or ISO training ✔️ It often includes lean, six sigma Yellow, Green, &/or black belt certification. 🏃♀️ Understanding & implementation of Kaisen certification is also necessary, all while running a line which frequently consists of 2 to 3 shifts per day, 6 or 7 days a week ✅️ A QA Manager is responsible for making sure his/her management team understands that the manufacturing product must hold up to stringent standards & pass inspection before being released for sale or further distribution ✍️ Often this is met with significant discourse as upper management is receiving concurrent pressure from management & board of directors, shareholders to hit projected targets 🔥 Regardless of projections & pressures from above, it is the responsibility of the QA Manager to HOLD THEIR GROUND ✅️ The position of a QA Manager requires an insanely dynamic person with an internal desire to achieve perfection, who continues to improve, & has enough skin to manage multiple tasks ✔️ 🔥 QA manager is the backbone of an organization. WITHOUT THEM THE PRODUCTS WILL CRUMBLE 🌎 Maintaining a QA manager position requires continuous improvement & education to remain as asset for a long & prosperous career 🌎 With these, you improve your organization into the LEAN & MEAN machine info@haccpacademy.com.ng #qamanager #qualityprofessionals #training #fao #manufacturing #retail #hospitality

QC/QA is the only thriving career for a food technologist. This was the belief of a soon-to-be graduate from my alma mater, Yaba College of Technology, when he approached me during my visit to the former Dean of the School of Technology. In his words: "After graduation, I will look for a quality control role. I know that’s the perfect job for a food technologist." I believe he is not alone in this belief; many view QC/QA as the default career choice for food technologists after graduation. While QC/QA is a valuable profession focused on product quality, IT IS NOT THE ONLY OPTION. Common valuable careers for food technologists, aside from QC/QA, include: 1. Product Development and R&D: Specializing in creating and improving food products and exploring new technologies. 2. Food Safety Specialist: Ensuring food is safe to eat. 3. Sensory Scientist: Testing how food tastes, smells, and feels. 4. Food Process Engineer: Designing and improving food production methods. 5. Regulatory Affairs Specialist: Ensuring food meets legal standards. 6. Food Packaging Specialist: Designing packaging to keep food fresh and safe. 7. Food Microbiologist: Studying microbes in food to ensure safety and quality. Please, know what you truly want, not just what you feel is readily available. I’m proudly a product developer. What about you? What’s your career path or dream job? #proudlyfoodtechnologist #Qc #QA #productdevelopment

Starting a new role as a quality control professional in the food industry can be overwhelming, especially after onboarding and introductions to the team. The complexity of ensuring product quality and compliance, coupled with the need to quickly adapt to the specific practices of your new workplace, makes it essential to approach the transition with a clear plan and a proactive mindset. The first step is to familiarize yourself with the production processes. Begin by observing how products are made, packaged, and stored. This will provide a clear understanding of where to focus your quality checks. Ask questions, review existing quality control procedures, and take notes on areas that may need improvement. Quality control/quality assurance officers are like the doctors of food manufacturing companies. Just as a doctor would not ignore any signs of illness, the production team should not withhold information when you ask questions. Transparency is crucial for maintaining high quality standards. Always observe, ask questions, and review the company's checklists and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures). Understanding these elements will help you contribute effectively and develop new checklists and SOPs if needed. Failing to take these steps can lead to inconsistencies in quality, inefficiencies, and safety risks, which can negatively impact the company's operations. I hope this advice resonates with those who might feel lost or unsure of where to start. A quality control/quality assurance officer should work closely with the production manager to develop practical checklists and SOPs, fostering teamwork between departments to ensure efficiency and maintain high quality standards. What was the first thing you did when starting at your new workplace? Please share your experience in the comment section and Repost if you find this helpful. Happy Eid-el-Maulud to my Muslim friends. ©️ Okeke, Ifeoma Vivian. #LinkedInCommunity #FoodSafety #Recruiters #QualityControl #QualityAssurance #Pharmaceutical #BusinessOwners #FoodManufacturing

Ensuring the highest quality in fresh produce isn't a stroke of luck - it's the result of meticulous quality auditing. 🌱✅ Starting with a clear eye for detail, a Quality Auditor's role within a Fresh Produce company is as crucial as it is challenging. Reporting to the Head of Technical, such a role demands accuracy and a strong understanding of internal specs; it's about safeguarding the safety, legality, and premium standard of products. It's more than a job; it's a commitment to excellence. The everyday hustle bustles with assessments, consistent communication, and dynamic adaptation. You're not just working with food; you're maintaining the trust of consumers and the integrity of the brand. 📈🤝 A degree can set you on this path, but it's the proven experience in quality assessing, BRC, and internal auditing that carves out a true expert. Add to that a keen knowledge of quality attributes specific to fresh produce, and the role becomes more than operational—it becomes instrumental in driving quality across the food supply chain. But what makes this more than a career highlight? It's those moments when your diligence contributes to success in BRC audits or streamlines supplier updates, acting as a guardian of food quality, from farm to fork. Are you immersed in the food industry? Looking to step up your career? A Quality Auditor role might just be your next challenge. 🚀🍏 #QualityAssurance #FreshProduce #CareerMove
