A name is something that sticks forever. Or at least for a very long time... Unlike a communication campaign or even a visual design, a name cannot be changed without significant impact on the business. Thus, finding the right name is a difficult task and needs to be done very carefully. A name needs to be fitting, distinct, memorable and - of course - ownable. So whether its renaming a company or crafting the right name for a new product, there are many things to consider - strategically, creatively and legally. Therefore, we always design naming processes to be collaborative, including different disciplines on on partner and on the client's side. It is based on a deep understanding of the market, the business and its customers. Naming Sprints ✏️ are a fun and collaborative exercise in the process of brand naming. For the best results, this part of the process should include both the client and designer working together as a team. First, decide who will participate in the naming sprints and the duration of time before you review your ideas. Next, you can decide on coming up with a specific number of names, like 50 each or even 150 each if the group is feeling like a challenge! Don’t be picky or spend too much time trying to find the perfect name, just write down as many words or ideas as you can—good or bad. When you meet together again, each participant can select their top words or names from the lists. Then compare to see which names are resonating and discuss why. Now, with more focus, you can have a second sprint where you begin to fine-tune and hone in on the names that were resonating in the first sprint, develop variations, think of new names with a similar feel, and even go back to the first list in case any good names slipped through the cracks. When you come back together, your goal is to end up with a short list 📝 of names that are strong potentials. It's cool to see how much can be communicated with just a VIBE. I love the look of this new launch - Panterre. The visuals tell me exactly I'm the sort of potential customer who should be paying attention. What do you think of it? Big pros for me: ++ aesthetic tells me who they're talking to ++ feels premium without even knowing what's in it ; gives me trust ++ quality imagery reinforces the trust factor Room for improvement: -- too much text for me on the landing page, the hard work is in distilling this -- I know it's for me, but because the message hasn't been distilled enough, I'm not sure what it's for or what's in it -- the focus is on the product spec rather than what I'll get from it -- feels like they could push brand distinctiveness a little further Awesome start from the people behind this launch. As always, the hardest thing is to know what to remove, what not to say...

Creative teams: just because you feel bored or tired of your brand's visual identity or message doesn't mean its time to change it up. Remember that while you work with and stare at your brand day in and day out, the customers you're trying to reach see it much less often. You have to stay consistent and disciplined for your message and visuals to have any chance of being remembered. In fact, if you find your creative team complaining about having to look at the same message and visuals...that probably means they're doing a good job of being consistent! Of course there's a time and place for change. But if you want your creative assets to have an impact on your brand and your business, repetition and consistency is key! #brandstrategy #marketingstrategy #creative
