I've noticed that many desalination and power plants struggle with ineffective de-aeration in their seawater outfall structures due to high impinging velocities after simple weirs in outfall boxes. Despite this challenge, stepped spillways—which effectively dissipate energy and reduce aeration—aren't widely used.
