As part of our environmental education aims, we offer student work experience placements to local secondary schools. This week, our Founder and Director, Clare Matheson, has been sharing her environmental and business knowledge and expertise with 2 students from The Woodroffe School in Dorset (pictured). In their feedback forms, both students recommend their placement, scoring it 9/10 in relation to their desired future career paths. Both rated the knowledge gained as 10/10, and they enjoyed the tailored tasks set for part of the week. Amelie stated, "Knowing Clare's experiences and career path was a huge eye opener. I have come away with so much knowledge and have a good understanding of business as a career and how to start. I love the tasks that were set and the ease of asking questions." Penny added, "I have gained useful knowledge that'll help me in my future career. I really enjoyed doing the research task and Clare gave me full control of this topic, which was helpful. I also felt comfortable to ask for help when needed." Little Green Change has previous delivered highly rated work experience placements for students at Colyton Grammar School Academy Trust Devon, and The Sir John Colfox Academy. littlegreenchange.com #littlegreenchange #environmentaleducation #awardwinning #nonprofit #socialenterpriseuk #workexperience #secondaryschool #dorset #careeradvice #greencareers #businessknowledge #careerpathways

It's always a pleasure to take part in these Form the Future CIC 'What's My Line?' sessions. I can now add Time Traveller to the list of potential careers I could have had (according to Year 7). I could also have been a Lumberjack or Astronaut. But mostly it seems I'm likely to be an Accountant or an Architect. This year I was quite taken aback by being asked if I have an 'special abilities'. To which the answer is obviously 'Yes': As a transport modeller, I can see the future! Seriously, What's My Line is brilliant fun. It helps young people to understand what job options are out there, and challenges you to really think about what you actually do!! Highly recommended! Thanks to all at Northstowe Secondary College for hosting. #WhatsMyLine #TransportModeller #OperationalResearch #ISeeTheFuture #WhatDoYouActuallyDo?

This week St Clere's School Careers team were awarded money through the Careers Impact Fund to further enhance our Careers programme. The fund will enable our students to create weekly podcasts on a range of careers for other students, widening their knowledge of careers, the local labour market and linking their school curriculum knowledge to those careers.
⭐ We're trying something new this year and giving schools and colleges the opportunity to run an innovative, impactful project to support either experiences of the workplace or improving outcomes for disadvantaged students. We're pleased the response has been extremely positive and we're able to share details on the projects that will be running for the rest of this academic year. 🌟 Tips for Building a Strong CV for Apprenticeships! 💼 It’s not just about listing every achievement but making each one count! Lots of job/degree apprenticeship applications reject people solely based on their CV - here’s how you can make sure that isn’t you: 1. Tailor your CV: Each role is different, so make sure your CV speaks to the job at hand. Highlight relevant skills and experiences that align with the role. 2. Highlight impact over duties: Don’t just say what you did—show how it made a difference! Instead of “managed a project,” go for something like “led a project that improved team efficiency by 20%.” 3. Keep it simple and clean: A clear, concise CV will always leave a better impression than one jam-packed with unnecessary info. Remember, recruiters spend only a few seconds scanning your CV! Need help crafting your CV? At FPI, we offer tips and guidance to help you build the best application possible through our mentorship program. New Alumni Spotlight: Liza Shirazi (Baer-Kahn) '02 What are you doing now? Where are you currently living? I currently own and operate 7 food and beverage locations, with one more under construction. We have 1 full service restaurant and event space (Mothership), 5 cafes (Revival Cafe + Kitchen) and 1 employee cafeteria in and around the Boston area. I currently live with my husband and 2 kids (ages 7 and 10) in Lexington, MA (I know a rival of ours!). What connection, if any, do you still have to WHS or the community? Living so close I find myself in Winchester relatively frequently. I always have fond memories of WHS when I drive by, despite it looking quite different! I also still keep in touch with friends who are living in town and other community places that are near to my heart from growing up. I strolled through Enka Fair this last year with some dear high school friends! Was there a favorite moment, person or experience at WHS that you remember that has helped you find your passions or reach your goals? One that stands out happened in Mrs. T's English class. I never enjoyed (still don't) public speaking but within that class I found a confidence in presenting to our class when speaking from my heart during a book report presentation. It gave me pride and an increased self confidence that was powerful and clearly made a big impression. I learned that when you find a passion it leads you to excellence when you put your heart into it. What was the path you took to get where you are today? Always following an inner voice/passion to find work that feels fulfilling and meaningful. Please share a success since leaving WHS. When I sit back and think of what I have done since leaving WHS, I can celebrate my own success, although it is hard to feel it on a day to day. I am very proud of the accomplishment of starting a business at 24 and the success I was able to achieve when believing in myself! More recently, when I found myself feeling a bit stagnant in my own growth professionally and personally I took a continuing education program and became a certified health coach. Having and raising two children also feels like a big success (and also a huge challenge)! Is there insight or advice you can share with current students? Listen to your inner voice, you know yourself better than anyone else can! If you are not on the Alumni Association network, join here: https://lnkd.in/ezPN2Uh

The last couple of weeks our office was invigorated by the youthful enthusiasm of Annie, a work experience student from a local college. Initially, I was worried that having her in our very busy office might be a bit inconvenient, especially with my constant travel and all our deadlines. However, Annie’s presence was so impactful and she genuinely SO enjoyed being on a demolition site that it inspired us to accelerate our plans for next years campaign. So, I am thrilled to introduce the British demolition industry to Demolition Hub’s latest initiative: DEMOLITION 4 AMBITION – NXT GEN. We are committed to leveraging our reach and resources to attract the next generation to the demolition industry. Here’s how we plan to do it: First, we invite all interested parties to join this campaign. Sign up for free—there are no advertising costs. Our goal is to help contractors find talent and educate students about the benefits, excitement, career progression, and overall fantastic opportunities within the demolition industry. Here’s how you can get involved: 1. Register Your Interest: Contact my team or me to express your company’s interest in DEMOLITION 4 AMBITION – NXT GEN. 2. Initial Consultation: We will schedule a brief call to discuss the campaign and identify nearby schools, colleges, and universities to where you are based. 3. Outreach: We will reach out to these educational institutions to arrange visits. 4. Presentations: We will prepare a presentation and ask that you do the same. Consider bringing a current apprentice and a seasoned industry professional to share their stories and inspire students about their future careers. 5. Events: We will host and lead the presentations, introducing you and facilitating the discussions. There is no financial gain for us or for you. Although this adds to our and your already packed schedules, it is vital to showcase this incredible industry that I have grown to love. Please do join us in this initiative. On a side note, we were so impressed with Annie that she has agreed to become a junior writer and will assist us with this campaign. 👌 #nxtgen #workexperience #apprentice #trainee #media #demolition #championingdemolition #school #schoolleavers #college #collegeleavers #university #uni #grads #graduates

Those who know me will be aware how passionate I am about collaboration. We have a huge job to do in the education and training sector to support our people, our industry, and our region. We cannot do this in splendid isolation, or in competition, so we need to see more of this kind of initiative. Policy makers need to stop pitching us against eachother, scrapping for morsels of complex funding. The solution isn't rocket science, its actually quite simple - we need to deliver traditional skills at volume! #partnerships #skills #Humber
