Installation Blog EP001 - Never drill the roof! We are back to one of our sites in #Albania where we faced a challenge since the tiles on the roof turned out to be 100% fake🙈😅 Consequently, we had to get a little bit creative on how to fix the panels on the roof. Based on our, by now nearly a decade, experience there are different options to mount solar panels on a tilted concrete roof: 1. Drill it to the roof but make sure that it stays waterproof (which is very difficult to ensure for the nect 30 years). However, small amounts of water might enter the concrete and ruin the whole roof that’s why we strictly recommend to find another solution!!! 2. Work with a ballast system. This could be a good solution as long as the tilt is below 7 - 12 degrees. 3. Become creative, build a galvanized structure, and fix the structure to the wall to avoid drilling the roof. Now to the installers and project designers out there: what are the most creative solutions that you had to come up with?
