Two Weeks Too Long: Mark's Dream on Hold It's been two weeks since school started, and Mark sits at home, filled with uncertainty and a heavy heart. 😔 School fees arrears stand between him and his education, his dream of becoming a carpenter fading with each passing day. In June 2024, myself and a team of eager/coerced colleagues will be taking on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge which involves a grueling 26-mile hike, starting at 6am…and it all needs to be completed in under 12 hours. This is all in aid of The 1892 Foundation. MHA's 1892 Foundation provides grants to local charities in the North West to help improve access to financial education for young people. With the current global cost of living crisis, it is essential that young people have this knowledge to help them make them make the right decisions when they start earning money so they can make informed choices on saving, budgeting, and spending. This is a concern for all young people, but specifically those from areas with lower social mobility who may not get this financial education from home or school, to ensure we reach the people in our communities who need it the most. Giving USA 2024 numbers are in, and they're not painting a pretty picture for the philanthropic sector. Despite a booming economy and record-high stock market gains, charitable giving took a nosedive in 2023. Here are the hard facts: 📉 Giving fell by 2.1%, despite a booming economy. 📉 Donor numbers dropped across the board, from everyday givers to mega-donors. 📉 Individual giving as a share of disposable income hit a near all-time low at 1.9%. Giving USA 2024 is out. Despite record charitable giving, $557 billion in 2023, the real data behind the numbers tells a more daunting picture for philanthropy. Giving is actually down 2.1% when adjusted for inflation, the total number of gifts of all sizes decreased, and individuals donors continue to prioritize less of their disposable income in support of nonprofits...and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Here are five takeaways from the report that every fundraiser needs know if we're going to reverse this trend.

EDvance College provides a phenomenal model of learning through work for early childhood educators. Learners earn college credit toward their degrees for their work caring for children in their local licensed ECE programs, and use their workplaces to practice the skills they learn in the classroom. The program is designed to support economic mobility for ECE professionals by validating and growing the knowledge they come with. Response Fund in Numbers Our small, personal grant program is our way of coming alongside those with unexpected financial need. We all have had those moments when something out of the blue impacts our ability to cover costs. The Unbridled Response Fund is our way of offering a helping hand to bridge the gap between hardship and sustainability. Every year, we have a variety of needs directed to us, and this year was no different. So far, we’ve been able to support 20 applicants this year, granting a total of over $36,000 towards their needs. Thank you to the 37 Unbridled employees who donate a portion of their paycheck every month to the fund, allowing us to support the applicants they direct to us. ACTS matches those donations 2:1, tripling our funds and increasing our ability to assist those in need.
