Self-esteem is not just how we view ourselves, but it’s deeply tied to our values and morals—and addiction often leads us to break the values we once held dear. Whether it’s not fulfilling a vow to never drink and drive, or a promise to never be under the influence in front of your children, addiction can pull us away from our own moral compass. But recovery offers the chance to rebuild. As we start to align our actions with our values, our self-esteem grows, and we reconnect with the person we truly are.✨🪷 Instagram: @stephaniecovingtonofficial #healingjourney #addictionrecovery #recoveryispossible #recoverysayings #selfempowerment #selfesteem #selflovejourney #motivationalposts #selfcaretips #empoweryourself #selfempowered #healing #healingenergy

Rebuilding your life after addiction isn’t easy, especially when it comes to regaining trust and repairing relationships. You might feel like you’re constantly trying to prove yourself, and it can be challenging when others are still hesitant to believe in your change. It’s important to remember that trust takes time to rebuild, and it’s okay to feel frustrated or overwhelmed by this process. 📞 (303) 910-0800 🏠 770 W. Are you isolating from loved ones and the life you once knew.? Addiction is often accompanied by an overwhelming sense of loneliness. As the cycle of addiction deepens, it creates barriers—emotional, physical, and social—that make connection with others feel impossible. Relationships can become strained or broken, leaving you feeling misunderstood and disconnected. The loneliness is compounded by shame, guilt, and the struggle to hide the truth, creating an endless loop of isolation. At Sakina, we understand the heavy burden of this loneliness and strive to provide a compassionate community where individuals can rediscover connection, understanding, and the hope of a brighter, more fulfilling future. www.sakinauae.com #BreakFreeFromAddiction #RecoveryJourney #MentalWellness #HealingWithCare #SoberLiving #MountainSerenity #HealingInNature #PeacefulRecovery #StartYourJourneyNow #LifeBeyondAddiction #HopeForTomorrow

One has to make a distinction between addictions that are the reenactment of trauma and addictions that are the reenactment of how we coped to make sure the traumanever happened again I had a woman in therapy, whose trauma was that she was force fed sadistically. Her food addiction was not a solution. It was the reenactment of the trauma. If we are rewarded for our accomplishments with food, you might say again that the food addiction is a trauma although in this case it’s not about aversion it’s about craving. Trauma also can have positive as well as negative emotional charge. Clearly, if there’s something that is traumatic, and we soothe ourselves, and this turns itself into an addiction, then the addiction is a solution to a worse problem. At that point, the key is to be able to make a different choice. Sometimes, addictions are ways of compensating for coheres at which point the problem is more existential and less materially oriented Hope these distinctions are helpful. What Gabor Marte says is true. it just also may be incomplete. Although I’d have to know everything he said to know whether that seemed true to me or not.
Addiction is often seen as the problem, but to the individual struggling with it, it may have begun as a solution. That's why compassionate recovery is crucial. Instead of asking why the addiction, let's ask why the pain. #CompassionateRecovery #UnderstandingAddiction
