It’s not just about good intentions, not just because we care, not just because needs are greater, not just because we understand! It’s bigger. When you understand that serving your community literally translates to serving yourself, the HOW and WHAT take a whole different meaning. #communitybuilding #communityempowerment

#ParentingTipNumber6 Take the time to use your time and talent to serve others in your neighborhood and community. Setting the example for our children, by using our time, our talent and our abilities to serve others give them a picture of what it means to be part of a neighborhood and a community. When we discuss the service that we’re giving and why we’re giving it we give children a clear picture of what it means to be a good neighbor and a good service oriented person. Be sure to take your kids with you from time to time. Talk about what you’re doing and ask them about things that may be important for them and serving neighbors and other community members.

What happened to knowing your neighbors? Think about it. Would you knock next door for sugar? Or grab your phone and Postmates it? We’ve traded connection for convenience. And it’s quietly unraveling our communities. Lori Ross, CEO of FosterAdopt Connect, reminded us of something powerful: Neighborhoods used to feel like family. Parents knew every kid on the block. Neighbors looked out for one another. Problems were solved together. Today, we’re more isolated than ever. Convenience has made us strangers. And our kids are missing the support only a strong community can provide. So how do we fix this? Lori suggests we start small: 1) Introduce yourself to your neighbors. 2) Look for ways to support them. 3) Show up for the people around you. Because real change starts next door. Want to hear Lori’s full take on rebuilding community? Catch the conversation here → https://lnkd.in/ghTQx3VX Let’s create neighborhoods that care again. What’s one step you’ll take today?

This comes with getting ideas and thoughts from the community at hand. Apart from Just seeing issues affecting communities on #socialmedia, #newspapers or #hearsay, going to the root and involving the community is the best way to GO . #DesignThinking #Communityengagement #Problemsolving
